Our new massage studio is finally open!
This is Clifton Hill... "fresh", "tranquil", "zen", "bliss"... just a few words from the clients who have already received a massage in the new space.
If you've been following along on my stories, you'll know I've created majority of this space with my own two hands (with the exception of the plumbing and electrical, which lucky for you i've left to the qualified experts!).
The pros: I've learned a lot, watching my vision manifest is sooooo rewarding and that sense of accomplishment is unparallel, it's saved me tens of thousands of dollars from the original quotes, and it's a space I can truly be proud of.
The cons: Not many! My body ached a lot… survived through a lot of self massage, stretching and yoga! And it did take me 8 months of blood, sweat and tears to complete in between getting my hands on all of you... not to mention juggling life and being a single parent among other things... but it was worth the wait!
I hope you'll feel all the love i've poured into creating it for us, and look forward to seeing you on the table soon 🙌

With our busy lifestyles and never-ending to-do lists it can sometimes feel as if self-care is an unattainable goal, but when we forget to look after ourselves, we are less likely to be able to cope and manage everyday stressors and are more susceptible to feeling run down, sick or injured.
As a busy working mum running my own massage practice, I understand how easy it is to fall into the habit of putting everything and everyone else before yourself! Here are just a few manageable things you can incorporate into your daily routine to recharge your batteries and give your wellbeing a boost!
1. Get Outside - try to spend at least 30 minutes outside a day to top up your vitamin D and calm stressful feelings. Walk to work, the dog, or simply take your lunchbreak outside!
2. Write it Down - Stop your mind racing of all you have to do and jot it all down. Whether you're journaling or writing out the grocery list, once it's out of your head and on paper, you'll create space for your mind to calm down.
3. Stop Procrastinating - We've all got jobs we've been meaning to do for a while, so instead of putting them off, break them down into smaller manageable steps. Little by little you'll feel the burden lift and more energy to do the things you want.
4. Prioritise the bare necesseties - Sleep, Water, Healthy Diet. We often take for granted how essential these things are to our health, but by ensuring we get to bed at a decent hour, staying hydrated throughout the day and feeding ourselves nutricious meals, we are supporting our body in it's natural recharge and restorative process. Use apps if you need reminders, and create yourself a daily routine that you can stick to.
5. Get a Massage (of course!) - A monthly massage (or more) is a wonderful way to maintain good health and help relieve tension, anxiety and stress, encourage relaxation, improve mood and aid sleep.... so what are you waiting for? Book a massage today.
The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year, which on the bright side, means only brighter (longer) days are ahead!
Because the sun sets earlier and the amount of sunshine is limited, you may find you are experiencing a drop in your serotonin levels, which can make you feel a bit melancholy and moody. Self-care is important every day of the year, but even more so during winter.
Massage is a great way to boost serotonin and circulation to help keep your body and spirit warm during the winter, so make sure to book yourself in for some regular sessions, especially during these colder months, and give yourself something to look forward to while you're counting down the days until Summer returns!
It's Mother's Day tomorrow, Sunday May 14th. Don't forget to give back to the mothers and maternal figures in your life, who give so much of themselves to their families.
Being a Mum can be an incredibly rewarding job, but it is also incredibly busy and stressful and often difficult to find time for self-care. Book the Mum in your life the ultimate Mother's Day treat - a massage to relax and rejuvenate... even if that Mum is YOU!
For the quick and thoughtful gift that's always appreciated, customisable eGift Cards are also available in any denomination you choose. Email the Gift Cards instantly to the recipient or yourself, or choose to schedule them on a date in the future, meaning you'll never forget a Mother's Day, another holiday, birthday or anniversary again!

Most people love a deep tissue massage, but if you sometimes find it painful or experience a lot of soreness after a massage, it can be a typical response to stimulating muscles that you might not engage regularly.
Massage can be helpful to highlight the areas of your body you might not even realise you are holding tension, and when practiced regularly, open pathways to make you feel clearer, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

I’ve had lots of messages from people asking about … so apologies I didn’t post an update sooner! Her surgery went great, and after wearing the cone of shame for 2 weeks, she is finally free and back to her happy self!
The vet was very impressed with Lily’s overall health for an 11yo dog and said she’s in great shape… I attribute it to lots of massage since she was a puppy!!!
I adopted Lily just after my Grandma had passed away when I was living in California and I was in massage school. She became my therapy dog and came to classes with me and she just loved being in the room with all that healing energy (and still does for those that want some free pet therapy during your massage!)
Disclaimer: may start snoring under the massage table 😂
It makes me so happy that my clients are just as excited to see Lily and give her a pat when they come for a massage, as receiving a massage!
Pet therapy for free here at Blissful Palms! Come get your pat on 🐾🙌

Massage can treat everything from aches and pains, digestive issues, insomnia and more, but there is one area that seems somewhat counterintuitive when it comes to massage... improved energy!
While this may seem contradictory because getting a massage is typically relaxing, the after effects can be quite different... increased or improved energy, especially when practiced regularly.
How does massage improve energy?
> Massage increases circulation, which raises the oxygen levels in our cells and in turn, the body feels less fatigued.
> Massage flushes out lactic acid build up in muscles, which causes them to feel sore and fatigued.
> When the body is sore and achy, we are less likely to feel vibrant and alive... relieving that pain through massage can increase our energy levels.
> Stress can zap us of our energy reserves, but chronic stress shows up at the cellular level. Massage can decrease stress in the joints, muscles and cells, thus indirectly improving our energy.
> Massage increases hormones like serotonin and dopamine, which help stabilise moods to fight of depression and indirectly affect energy
> By reducing pain and promoting the parasympathetic nervous system response, massage helps to mproves sleep so you don't wake up feeling tired and irritable
> Massage can improve digestion by stimulating the production of digestive enzymes. This one may seem a little out of place, but think about what happens after we eat a big meal - we feel sluggish. So again, massage can help decrease our feelings of fatigue.
No matter why you’re experiencing fatigue or decreased energy, getting a massage might just be the easiest solution for a pick-me-up.
So what are you waiting for?

It’s hard not to resent Mondays when it marks the end of the fun and freedom of the weekend. Even if you love your job, the anxiety of having to go back to the grind can leave you disorganised and spinning your wheels all day. By adopting a few smart habits on Sunday, you can set yourself up for a happier more efficient workweek without really cutting into your weekend R&R time.
Here's some tips to set your week up for success:
- Get organised
Dedicate an hour to anticipate the week ahead and get organized to help you free up head space and reduce worry and stress. Knock out pesky chores like laundry earlier in the day, get your meals prepped for the week... anything that's going to set you up for sucess for the week ahead
- Eat healthy food
If you're going to splurge over the weekend, reserve that for Friday or Saturday. An indulgent Sunday brunch or heavy dinner on Sunday night can make you more lethargic come Monday morning. Aim for three balanced meals to give you steady energy, skip the alcohol which can bring on the mental fog and sluggishness that intensifies stress and instead, hydrate with plenty of water.
- Make the day meaningful
On a day like today when it's cold and wet out, you might prefer to binge watch a show on Netflix, but setting a positive tone for Mondays could come down to making Sunday more active or fulfilling. Making time for activities that are consistent with your values and connect you to the people you love resets your spirital batteries and can leave you feeling inspired and accomplished.
- Have some quality sleep
A good night’s rest can help you handle stress and put you in a more optimistic, can-do mood that leaves you feeling alert and energized, ready to tackle the start of the week. To give yourself the best chance for quality sleep, eat healthy throughout the day, get a decent amount of physical activity and don't go to bed on a full stomach. It might also be helpful to wind down before bed with a short guided meditation or breathing exercise to slow the heart rate and decrease any mind chatter.
