They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it’s been a while since Sam has been the star of our -mobile! It’s great to have him back delivering some excellent beer insight, as only he can. This week, Sam has picked a cheeky brew from Queensland’s decadent dark beer kings— !

Sam’s pick, 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁𝘀, is a 14.5% ABV Imperial Pastry Stout, a beer that takes the idea of a candy bar and turns it into liquid form. Bacchus Brewing took inspiration from their Snickers Ale and amped it up. Packed with flavors of chocolate, nougat, caramel, and peanuts, this rich, dessert-like stout is as indulgent as it sounds

“This pastry stout is a decadent treat rich in complexity. The peanut butter flavor is well integrated and not overpowering. Other notes include coffee, dark chocolate, and caramel, making for a well-balanced, smooth, indulgent blend. Perfect to sip on a cold evening or as a dessert alternative. Bacchus killing it once again with another decadent brew!”

This week, we’ve got oldish newboy Dan taking the reins for , and he’s chosen an absolute gem from Tired Hands—Hop Cream Tangerine!

Hop Cream Tangerine is an 8.8% ABV 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗣𝗔 from the creative minds at Tired Hands Brewing in Pennsylvania. This brew is packed with an abundance of flaked and malted oats, fermented with their house ale yeast, and dry-hopped generously with Simcoe and Galaxy hops. The twist? It’s conditioned on vegan marshmallows and an enormous bounty of tangerine, giving it a unique flavor profile that includes notes of orange creamsicle, citrus zest-infused whipped cream, and fresh-baked sugar cookies.

👦🏻🗣️Dan’s Review:
“Yes, yes, yes! The Hop Cream Tangerine from Tired Hands out of Pennsylvania certainly does not disappoint! The combination of oats, malted oats, and lactose gives it a delicious roasted marshmallow characteristic, which pairs beautifully with the zippy tangerine. Despite the creamy mouthfeel, this beer is super fresh, and the DDH comes through nicely. The freshness is further strengthened with a tart, bitter citrus finish.”

The combination of New Zealand and American hops delivers an intense aroma and flavor of ripe tropical fruits, complemented by a soft, pillowy mouthfeel.🍺

It’s Wednesday, and Wade is back in the Hopheads hot seat for this week’s edition of ! As Melbourne teeters between winter and spring—cloudy mornings, stunning afternoons, and gloomy evenings—Wade’s chosen two beers that perfectly capture this Jekyll-and-Hyde weather.

Wade has picked two contrasting beers from Hargreaves Hill Brewing Company's recent collaboration with Celestial Beerworks in America - their 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝘇𝘆 𝗜𝗣𝗔 (spring in a glass!) and 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿 (a humongous Imperial Stout).

𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝘇𝘆 𝗜𝗣𝗔:
Instantly assaulted by overripe fruit on the nose, then beaten to the ground with huge amounts of peach and pineapple as soon as it touches your tongue! It finishes you off with an elegant, perfectly weighted grapefruit and mango kick. It smashed me, and I in turn, smashed it.

Holy moly. Hargreaves Hill has always known their way around a stout, and this is no exception. Combined with the mind power of Celestial Brewing, they’ve created a glorious, nutty, chocolatey behemoth of a stout. Stunningly balanced with a touch of cinnamon and toffee, this beer is a masterclass in brewing.
