This week we feature ‘The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife’, debut novel by emerging Australian author, Anna Johnston.
📖 Frederick Fife was born with an extra helping of kindness in his heart. If he borrowed your car he’d return it washed and polished, with a full tank of petrol. The problem is, he has no one left to borrow from. At 82 he’s desperately lonely, broke and on the brink of homelessness.
'The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife' is a warm, life-affirming debut about a bizarre case of mistaken identity that allows a lonely old man one last chance to be part of a family.
‘Sincere, heartfelt and laugh-out-loud...genuinely delightful...' - The Australian.

This week, we spotlight Smoke, the latest book by author and veteran ABC journalist, Michael Brissenden.
📖 After a brutal wildfire tears through the town of Jasper in the Californian sierras, a body is discovered in a shed. It looks like an open-and-shut case of accidental death – until further investigation reveals that the victim was locked in from the outside.
'The best crime book I've read this year. Kept me guessing right to the end. The setting is brilliant, the characters compelling, the writing elegant, the plot bewitching, the tension palpable. A winner.' Chris Hammer

This month we caught up with Zac, one of our customer service officers to ask him three important library questions.
🐤 What is the book that inspired you as a child?
The book that inspired me as a child is “My Chicken All Over Australia”. I liked it because Mr Chicken likes to travel and there was an element of freedom.
🐤 What do you love about libraries?
I love the community, the sense of belonging and how everyone can come together in one place to meet up and get things done.
🐤 What are you reading/ watching/ listening at the moment?
I am currently reading the book “Immune” by Phillipp Dettmer. It envisions a battle inside your body where cells fight off infection.
