And get ready for more exciting news next week!
There's no better way to end the week than to play for peace!
Today, as part of our PeacePlay programme, we facilitated a Positive Conflict workshop with 82 students aged 9 to 10.
The kids were enthusiastic participants and engaged in discussions about the different types of conflicts they have in the schoolyard: when friends say they want to play with others, when someone hogs the ball, when someone gives a death stare etc. Life is full of conflict when you are 9!
We also explored positive ways of responding to conflict before we topped the day off with some energetic tug of war/peace.
Kids are amazing peacebuilders. We are on a mission to transform conflict through different sectors of society and young people are a big part of our strategy.
If you know of communities who might want to benefit from our PeacePlay programme, let us know! We are also always looking for more investors who believe in the power of youth peacebuilding.

Reunion meals as food peacebuilding What I love about the Lunar New Year is how food peacebuilding is front and centre of the celebrations. Engaging discussion at the ESG 2023 Leadership Summit on needing to remember the social dimension of 'Environment, Social & Governance' work.
Elaine Pratley (Peace Inc) talked about how a peacebuilding lens reveals tensions even within terms like 'social good' and 'ESG'. She also brought two birds' nests to demonstrate how we often talk about social impact at a theoretical level. But real change needs a return to basics and the relationships and direct connection with the people/animals/Country we want to help.
Thomas Mayo, Voice to Parliament advocate, talked about how corporates supported the Yes vote during the recent Voice Referendum. Katrina Moore and Gabby Sundstrom described how collaborating with communities can create meaningful impact for businesses. Melanie Yap gave an overview of the issues that might fall within 'the social'.
A takeaway from the forum: If an ESG role falls within the communication team's purview, this suggests that ESG is about branding and optics. If it is part of the strategic team's work, perhaps there is a real desire for positive social impact.

FOR PEACE
As the fever of day calms towards twilight
May all that is strained in us come to ease.
We pray for all who suffered violence today,
May an unexpected serenity surprise them.
For those who risk their lives each day for peace,
May their hearts glimpse providence at the heart of history.
That those who make riches from violence and war
Might hear in their dreams the cries of the lost.
That we might see through our fear of each other
A new vision to heal our fatal attraction to aggression.
That those who enjoy the privilege of peace
Might not forget their tormented brothers and sisters.
That the wolf might lie down with the lamb,
That our swords be beaten into ploughshares
And no hurt or harm be done
Anywhere along the holy mountain.
