Used up the very last of Bobbiny's rainbow dust for this beauty! Brushed it out with a mix of Mary Maker's white gold and snow white to make them super special. A lot of patience needed, but goodness gracious she's pretty β¨

This baby brings a whole new meaning to Macrame Weaving Fibre Supplies 's handpainted unicorn dreams π¦π
While I've been making my own tassles by hand, combining and brushing out snippets of different colours, I've been pondering the question, 'Could I use this same technique in fringe for a rainbow?'
The answer is YES people! I think I've struck gold with this one β¨ Not sure if I'll be able to let this rainbowgo!

LOCKDOWN LOVE GIVEAWAY // To celebrate 's release of 25 (!!!) new handpainted Cloud 9 macrame cord, I thought I'd have a little play with this sweet selection that she gifted me last Melbourne lockdown. With three of Australia's states in lockdown (seriously, what is going on?), I would love to give this little piece away to someone to spread some joy during this time. All YOU need to do is:
1. Tag a friend you miss β€οΈ
2. Tell me something you did today that made you happy
3. Enter as many times as you like!
Winner will be chosen randomly Tuesday 27 July (π€ when Melb's lockdown ends).
Giveaway open only to Australian residents. Prize will be posted to the winner via Australian Post πͺ
We love tassles π Although they take a lot of care and patience, I absolutely adore how the look is delightfully unique every time. When you order a piece from this small business (just me over here π), every hanging is wrapped with care, complete with a sweet pair of recycled fibre tassles. And the best part is, you get to reuse them to bless someone else (or you can just keep them for yourself - I won't tell π).

So Melbourne, we're in Lockdown 5.0. It's so easy to find yourself in a mind numbing state, scrolling aimlessly, watching another TV show or going for another row (or two) of chocolate. When you feel like you've lost your spark, sometimes that's when you need to pick up the paint brush, the guitar or the macrame cord most. It doesn't matter if what you create isn't at the same standard of what someone else can do. Comparison is the thief of joy. If you are feeling bleugh, I challenge you to MAKE SOMETHING. Do it for you and do it for the messy process of creativity.
Me? I'm pressure cooking a lamb shoulder. I had to YouTube how to debone one because otherwise it didn't fit in the cooker π
EEEEEPP YOU GUYS π This baby is available for sale! When you find some new fibre that makes you dream, you just gotta have a play! How sweet is she?

These tassles make me so excited π I'm now holding onto scraps I used to throw out because they "weren't long enough", mixing colours and cord I never would have thought to put next to each other. Everything that doesn't have a purpose for one thing, sure will have a purpose for something else. If you receive anything from me, you better believe it's going to be wrapped in brown paper with a set of these attached!

SPENCER // Can somebody please order this in natural? π I can hardly believe that it's been seven months since I dreamt up this beauty and I have to say, one of my must beloved wall hangings. CARING FOR YOUR PIECE // When you receive a piece from Baylee & Rose, a lot of work has gone into making sure that it is as perfect as possible! Once it's knotted, trimmed, brushed, trimmed and brush again (and again and again), fibres are given a chance to rest over 1-2 days so that a final check can be made before wrapping. Due to the stunning and unique nature of cotton fibre, they may need a little work to be looked after! If you notice that the fringe on your piece isn't looking as lush as it's photo (including after it's first unwrapping), all you need to do is grab a hair brush, place your hands directly behind the fringe and brush. It won't take long for it to smooth out and be stunning again π

OH HI π
I have been so overwhelmed by the increased support I've received over the last few weeks that I thought it was about time for me to say hello!
My name is Arielle. I'm a 25 yo full time teacher who lives in Melbourne, Australia. I began my macrame journey a year ago during our COVID Lockdowns, as I wanted to explore something that would keep me busy and keep me creating. Also, I really love pretty things, so it's a lot of fun to make them π
Thought it may be fun to play a little game... Two truths and a lie? For the statement you don't think it's true, comment the number below and I'll reveal all in due course...
1. In Year 11, I decided I wanted to be a vet, so studied ask the subjects I needed to. However, when it came to a rat dissection, I just couldn't do it, so I switched to teaching π
2. I am the only person in my immediate family who was born in NZ, although my dad would least definitely define himself as a Kiwi, despite being born in South Africa.
3. I own an indoor plant which has not grown any leaves since I bought it two years ago.
Happy guessing! Would love if you could share a fun fact about you too π»
ONE YEAR //
What a journey. One year since Baylee & Rose began. I've completed over 70 macrame pieces, ordered over 10km of cord and have been so fortunate to bless such lovely people not only in Victoria (even when there was that crazy time we could only venture 5km from our houses!), but also interstate and internationally. I'm incredibly proud of where I am standing and I'm so thankful for everyone who has supported me along the way. Whether it be a follow, comment, share or purchase, I appreciate the way you have cheered me on through it all. Here's to creating, loving and choosing life, regardless of what the world looks like.
Hoorays for dreamy flat lays π
Brydie is such a beautiful soul who has been a huge encouragement to me over the last year! What a phenomenal, generous gift to offer in her birthday competition. Fingers crossed π€
ASH II // How do we feel about day light savings? It's 8:30 here in Melbourne and I've managed to do a 40min yoga sesh, make and down a cup of tea, whip up a dairy free lemon, coconut and raspberry loaf, did the dishes, cleaned the kitchen and popped the dishwasher on π Hooray for body clocks and school holidays!!

Creativity starts with a question. How can I use what I have to make something special?
I've been inspired by the way creates new patterns and knots using different colours. However, the rights in my mind have been, "How on earth can she keep creating unique ideas? Surely I can't do that!" I've been teaching my students that words have power, so consequentially, I was challenged to consider the power that those words had over me as a creator.
Sustainability is important to me, so I have been keeping macrame offcuts which are just too long to throw away. Yesterday (while having a sniffly day at home), I decided to give these a try. Something small, but something special. Looking forward to my customers being blessed by these finishing touches.

KATIE // It brings me so much joy to reflect on a walk I had with the beautiful bride to be, , where she spoke of how much she adored my work and wanted me to create an arbour for her wedding. She confidently gave me creative freedom and I eagerly accepted the challenge. I cannot count the amount of hours (24hrsish) or knots (well over 10,000) that it took to bring this to fruition, but I definitely loved every moment of it.

JOY // It's all been a bit slow lately. For those who don't know, I'm a full time teacher and we have just finished our first week of term four. My gorgeous Year 6s gave me the most beautiful smiles as I said that there is only one day left of remote learning and then we get to be together at school. Things may continue to be a bit slow as it's been tricky for me to get my hands on product over the last few weeks, but you may see a few new pieces in new colours over the next month or so.

So proud of this one. Painted this orange and poppyseed cake for a colleague's daughter's iso- birthday and I'm so excited to finally try roses and a more neutral colour palette.
PIPPA // Yay for sunshine!! I couldn't help but move this beauty into the warmer light this morning. In Melbourne, it's a glorious 27 degrees today βοΈ Although we can't go further than 5km from our homes (and I accidentally butchered my toe on my guitar case last night so I'm not walking far any time soon - whoops), I know I'll be sitting outside and soaking up the sun. How did we suddenly arrive at October? It felt like it was only September for two weeks!
I'm somewhat intimidated by the amount of Christmas advertising and updates from people to say how far through their Christmas shopping they are. I always find buying presents tricky because I want to give something meaningful and not just an obligatory gift. Do you like buying presents and what advice do you have for those who find it tricky?
P.S. I must say that these little ones would make terrific gifts. However, probably not for absolutely everyone on my list π
RENEE // A lovely customer ordered this piece alongside Pippa, so that they could hang either side of a stunning canvas in their lounge. That set me the challenge to adapt this design, which I had only done once before, so that it complemented the other piece. I'm very happy with the finished product! What was most exciting is that after the freak storm Melbourne had a month ago, I found a beautiful piece of silver gum and was able to craft these two pieces from the same wood, meaning that each is an extension of the other. Using Sheer Grey by .home.heart, it was so easy to fall in love with the different knots, textures and layers.

NAOMI MINI // For ages I've wanted to play with the tiny bit of Avocado from today I had left over from one of my earlier Pippas. I tried to anticipate the amount of dowel I would need for a six week lockdown (which has since become eight weeks plus some...), but this was the longest scrap piece I had left! May have to brave the click and collect option for our local soon...

JOY // I've made this piece four times in three different colour combinations and I still can't decide which is my favourite! Pictured is Forest Green by .home.heart and I can't get over how dreamy all of her colours are.
Wanted to get the word out that if you're placing an order, it won't be completed until the second week of November at the earliest. There are some delays in product shipment and everything is just taking a bit longer. Thank you to all of you beautiful customers who are patiently waiting on their order π

Time for a bit of a different post...I realised that this is probably the first year in about fifteen years that I've made my mum a birthday cake. These school holidays, we would normally stay at a farm in East Gippsland and we would celebrate her birthday with our extended family. It breaks my heart that due to COVID restrictions in Victoria, this is the first time in fifteen years that mum has gone without a sponge cake, handmade with love by the hosts, who have become our honourary extended family. That being said, I'm incredibly glad that I had the opportunity to bake this for her. Happy birthday, Mum β€οΈ
Gluten free orange and poppyseed cake, painted with mascarpone frosting. First one I've baked from scratch for a very long time and I'm very happy π»
ASH II // Texture, layers and vibrancy π I adore scrolling through my camera roll, admiring all of these closeups on past pieces. I cannot fathom just how many I've brought to life over the last six months and I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come.
Pictured Salmon Pink by .home.heart (I still have one more roll to play with if you love this colour as much as I!) πΌ
With so many steps between receiving an order and delivering it to the customer, wrapping and packing my pieces is becoming one of my favourite parts. You can never go wrong with brown paper and twine and the gigantic roll of brown paper that I bought from will last me until Christmas 2021 π
Just wondering, if your piece wasn't being posted, would you prefer to receive it wrapped or as is? Does it depend on the size? Would love to hear from you. Macrame makers, if you have some input that would be awesome too β€οΈ
This piece has truly captured my heart. An odd 700m of cord, maaaybe 16hrs (I keep forgetting to count π€·π½ββοΈ) and 6000ish knots, when I started the conversation with a bride-to-be about this commission, I knew I would love every minute working on it. Still have some floor length tassles to add which still be able to be removed so that they can hang this piece in their home afterwards β€οΈ
Oh golly. I love it.
