This young man presented with a raised, red lump on his chin, which consisted of a collection of blood vessels, a so called hemangioma.💥Laser treatment targeting the vessels produced not only a reduction in the colour but also reduced the thickness of the lump. General advice is to expect a series of treatments ( 3-5 ) spaced 6 weeks apart for optimal results. This young man was lucky to achieve this response after only one session, but responses will vary between individuals & cannot be guaranteed. At times, the surface thickening and redness are reduced after laser treatment.
😳Others may have the redness reduced but be left with a fibrous, skin-coloured lump that needs to be removed by minor surgical means, such as a “shave biopsy.” Thank you to our wonderful patient for allowing the use of his photos for educational purposes. e
