Super thrilled to see Uncle Bob Weatherall recognised for his longtime commitment in working nationally and internationally working with countrymen to exercise culture rights especially in repatriation. A gem of a musician too and wise elder we have had the pleasure in working with for a long time.

Congratulations to Uncle Bob Weatherall, recipient of the 2023 Red Ochre Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement!🌟 🌟 He is a pioneer whose impact has created significant generational change in the cultural rights of First Nations Peoples at a national and international level.

The Creative Industries Ministerial Advisory Council helps our Government drive the development and growth of the Northern Territory’s creative industries.

Dr Amanda Morris recently came on board.

And as Director of Charles Darwin University’s new Academy of Arts, she’s on a mission to invigorate creative education.

Her knowledge and experience in the arts and arts education sector means she’s going to be a ridiculously valuable addition to the Council.

Dr Morris joins Mark Smith, Ben Graetz, Phillip Watkins, Judith Lovell, Elena Madden and Helene George – a bunch of legends if I ever saw one.

Justice for artists: former art centre CEO jailed | Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations 19/02/2022

While justice has been served, the harm to the artists, reputation of this art centre and the industry lingers. Some of the artists who did not receive their money are now long past. Monies from artwork are often used medicine and basic comforts for family in community. It also rocks trust in the market.

A founding partner of the Brisbane International Contemporary Dance Prix, Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden is a unique University dedicated to dance with a balanced ballet and contemporary curriculum. Thank you for the tour on a special day.

„There is an inner need to dance, we don’t know where it comes from. If it is there, we have no choice but to follow the compulsion.“ – Gret Palucca

Today, Palucca (*08/01/1902), founder of the Palucca Schule and name giver of our University, would have been 120 years old! We would like to mark this special day with this beautiful photo of her!

Palucca died on 22 March 1993, but her artistic legacy lives on to this day – in our teaching and the achievements of our students, alumni and artistic staff who carry it out into the world and continuously develop it further as professional dancers, choreographers and dance teachers. Many congratulations, Palucca!

Fighting for culture. Amazing resilience and commitment Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation

A DAVID AND GOLIATH STRUGGLE IN THE ANCIENT PILBARA: TWIGGY VRS YINDJIBARNDI

Fortescue Metals Group has revealed a record profit of $10.3 billion U.S dollars, giving Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest a $2.3 billion dollar dividend.

The record profits come thanks to the recent surge in the prince of Iron Ore, but FMG is actually worth $6 billion less since last month after the Iron Ore price dropped from record highs.

Meanwhile a new book released by writer Paul Cleary and the ongoing dispute between Mr Forrest and the Yindjibarndi people over mining on their lands has been released to the public.

Speaking on Ngaarda Breakfast, Mr Cleary says he was amazed at resilience of Yindjibarndi CEO, Michael Woodley who spearheaded the legal action against FMG.

“I don't know how people like Michael Woodley have sort of managed to remain sane during this whole period because the level of, legal proceedings and the amount of the volume of material, I

work out this 670,000 words of court and tribunal judgments that have been generated by this dispute…”
