This coming-of-age story introduces you to an array of native animals, from a trickster lyrebird to a jittery emu, and all manner of marsupials. Told with colour, Australian spirit and a big dose of humour, this opera imparts important lessons on identity and the powerful ways in which we use our voice.
This show is part of the New Work Opera Studio, a program where people aged 15 to 25, come together to create a new opera.

Victorian Opera is deeply saddened to learn the news that Steve Davislim passed away this week. Steve, Australia’s leading tenor, was acclaimed worldwide for his powerful, lyrical voice. He last performed with us in Idomeneo (2023), in the titular role.
Victorian Opera Artistic Director Stuart Maunder says: “Steve was a great colleague, seen all-too rarely in his home country. We are proud to have presented his powerful Idomeneo, one of his signature roles. He will be greatly missed.”
We send our heartfelt condolences to Steve’s family and friends.
