Pure Piping

Since September 2022 Pure Piping has been engaged on CSL Seqirus project “Banksia”- a new biopharmaceutical facility in Tullamarine, Victoria. This will be the only cell-based influenza vaccine manufacturing facility in the Southern Hemisphere. The facility will also manufacture unique products important to Australia's public health needs - including antivenom for Australian snakes, spiders and marine creatures, and the world's only human vaccine for Q-Fever.
Pure Piping’s scope of work centred around Flu Cell Culture (FCC) Level 1 Purification, Products of National Significance (PNS) building and Administration & Laboratories (ADL) building.
Process services installed include product, water for injection, pure water, gases (such as nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, filtered compressed air) and chemicals (such as sodium hydroxide, citric acid).
This is yet another project our team is very proud to have been a part of – congratulations to everyone involved with getting this first class facility operational.

Pure Piping are pleased to announce we have been engaged by Multiplex to complete the Process scope for Moderna’s Australian facility in Melbourne.

This will be Australia’s first mRNA research hub and manufacturing facility. Once up and running, it will produce up to 100 million mRNA vaccines annually, making it the largest producer of mRNA vaccines in Asia-Pacific and ensuring Australia has priority access to the vaccines it produces. mRNA teaches human cells how to make copies of the spike protein that triggers an immune response to fight off an illness. The Melbourne facility will produce respiratory vaccines for potential future pandemics, as well as influenza, COVID-19 and seasonal influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in such an important project for our country, we can’t wait to get to work!

As one of our team recently mentioned tongue in cheek when asked what they do for a living – “I save lives”.

The ANSTO (Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) Synchrotron facility is where some of our country’s greatest minds do their work, but enough about our team – you should see what these nuclear scientists are up to! From Particle Therapy cancer treatment research to mapping the molecular structure of the COVID-19 virus – the ANSTO team are on the front line of scientific research and discoveries!
We are currently working with ANSTO at the Australian Synchrotron to install utility services such as Low Conductivity Water, Compressed Air & Nitrogen to two beamlines as part of their BRIGHT Program expansion. The radiation shielding hutches create some unique installation requirements, such as pipework entering the hutches via “labyrinths”- which are short tunnels arranged in two adjacent dog-leg sections of shielding material, preventing the escape of radiation.

Great to see Vaxxas has officially opened in Hamilton, Brisbane. Pure Piping installed the High Purity water service in this facility, it was a great project to be a part of.

Earlier this year we moved into our new Pure Piping headquarters! We have a workshop floor space of over 700 square meters and have completed a purpose built fit out to ensure all manufacturing is conducted within a clean environment. We’ve also increased our material storage capacity to minimise lead times on new projects. We look forward to further supporting the pharmaceutical, laboratory, research and semiconductor industries from this facility.

Project Hawara, CSL’s new global corporate headquarters located at the top end of Melbourne within the medical research cluster, has been Pure Piping’s flagship project to date. In all, over 20 kilometres of Process pipework was installed within Pure Piping’s specialist scope of work. The facility consists of 17 levels, including 8 levels of leading-edge laboratories and cleanrooms. Supplying pharmaceutical & laboratory services over a building of this scale has never been done in Australia until project Hawara.
As an example of the project scale- the specialist gases (Carbon Dioxide, Oxygen, Helium, Argon, Nitrogen and Ultra-High Purity Nitrogen) are stored on the ground floor and supply levels 2-10. The Water For Injection and Laboratory Grade Water are generated & stored in the plant space on Level 3 and service levels 2-10. Over 700 uniquely designed General Service Outlets we’re fabricated by Pure Piping, these bespoke items are unique to this facility and provide a means for delivering the critical GMP services within the cleanrooms.

This school is a world leader in nano-fabrication, semiconductor, nuclear and gravitational wave research.

Our High Purity Water reticulation loop has been handed over at Vaxxas Brisbane! It was a pleasure to work on this facility that will include GMP manufacturing and product development laboratories. The orbitally welded reticulation loop was manufactured from 316L SF1 (mechanically polished internal) tube and fittings and is compliant to GMP requirements. We completed a 3 stage passivation of the system, it’s now ready for the introduction of high purity water.

We have a variety of orbital autogenous welding sizes covered to suit all high purity services. With over 20 weld heads in our range, we can cater from 3mm / ⅛” tube with our Orbiweld micro head right up to 150mm / 6” with our Orbiweld 170.

New Melbourne CSIRO lab boosts nation’s vaccine capability The new CSIRO lab in Clayton will quickly make vaccines for clinical trials, helping Australia respond more promptly to future pandemics.

We are extremely grateful to have been awarded the 2022 ASSDA Fabricator Project of the Year for our Pharmaceutical project - CSIRO GMP Facility in Clayton, VIC. Recognition for this project, which will enable process development and production of Phase-I and Phase II clinical trials, is very rewarding and energising to our team.

While we value all of our team members, would like to highlight the brilliant work of our site manager Nick Seymour bringing this challenging project together. We’ve begun works at VAXXAS in Brisbane QLD.
This project consists of the construction of a new biomedical facility within an existing 4,000m2 warehouse. The new facility will include GMP manufacturing, product development laboratories, engineering spaces, storage areas, offices, and new plant areas.
Pure Piping’s scope of work is specifically related to the high purity water reticulation loop installation with 16 user point droppers throughout the facility.

We've been in full swing gas panel fabrication mode for several weeks now! 700+ Laboratory gas panels are to be fabricated and installed on our current project in Melbourne's CBD. This will be an outstanding facility once completed.

While high purity services are our specialty, we take pride in installing multiple supporting services on the projects we work on. A common pharmaceutical requirement is to have temperature-controlled water for the jacket of production vessels in order to maintain critical product manufacturing temperatures. We’ve recently completed an installation of this type of service for CSIRO, beginning with the installation of the chiller, run out of the copper tube into the specific temperature control units and finishing stainless steel pipework into the clean rooms at the service panels ready for user access.

Australian National University’s new Research School of Physics and Engineering facility is almost complete. It’s rewarding to move into the commissioning phase of the project and begin using some of the specialised equipment – such as the vented gas cabinets supplied by Applied Energy Systems.

Completing a dryness test on two new compressors we installed on our GMP project for CSIRO is straight forward with our PhyMetrix Moisture Analyzer.
Other useful applications include ensuring pharmaceutical lines are dry post passivation and ultra-high pure gas lines are free from moisture post installation.

The first of our valve manifold boxes from Applied Energy Systems have been installed on our project for the Australian National University Research School of Physics and Engineering building within the sub fabrication area.
These valve boxes are custom made to ANU’s requirements. The semiconductor exotic gases are monitored within the VMB to ensure safety with all control options.
The main gas line feeds the valve manifold boxes where the gas is then distributed throughout the ballroom to all required tools within the Physics facility.
These systems are orbital welded wherever the lines are exposed, any mechanical joins within semiconductor gases requires containment to ensure safety.

Pure Piping is thrilled to be supporting ProBuild and Monaco Hickey with the construction of this state-of-the-art facility comprising biotechnology laboratories, research, and clinical phase production suites.
Our scope, designed by Biotech Engineering, involves multiple high purity services such as Water for Injection, Pure Steam and all laboratory gas services, all of which will utilise our first-rate orbital welding skills.

CSIRO’s new GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) Facility in Clayton is now well advanced. This facility when complete, will enable process development and production of biologicals for clinical trials. Pure Piping are supporting Monaco Hickey with the installation of orbitally welded systems such as Water for Injection, Pure Steam and high purity gases such as Nitrogen, Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. As well as the critical pipework, mechanical items such as the Steam Boiler, Chiller, Air Compressors and associated pipework will all be completed by Pure Piping. Our team is relishing the opportunity to complete such a diverse package and are committed to delivering a state of the art facility.
