Bernie's a new friend for our equine vet nursing students to meet. Our students have worked with many thoroughbreds in the course but now we've added a standardbred to the mix!

Exam Morning Struggles are real.
It’s a cold Melbourne morning your alarm goes off and you’re more burritoed in your blankets than ever before. You know you should get up, but your bed is giving abandon everything and stay home.
Barney has a few suggestions to get your body and mind ready for exams this week:
💧 A big glass of water with a sprinkle of sea salt to start your day.
Coffee ☕️ or tea 🫖 to the rescue
Dance It Out -A quick dance party to your favorite hype song can work wonders. 💃🕺When you dance, your brain releases endorphins, which are those feel-good chemicals that boost your mood and reduce stress. Plus, dancing improves cognitive function, enhances memory, and promotes neuroplasticity – your brain’s ability to adapt and grow.
Buddy System -Text a friend who’s also up for exams. Misery loves company, right? 😂
Pep Talk- Remind yourself how amazing you are and that you’ve totally got this! Because you are and you do!🏆
Remember, you’re not just surviving – you’re thriving. So, get up, conquer that exam, and then treat yourself to a well-deserved nap or binge-watch session. 📺😌

Happy International Women's day!
A message to our Vet Nurse Barbies (current and future):
Now, as much as we welcome and encourage more male vet nurses in the industry...did you know that females make up 97% of the workforce in veterinary nursing.
Some might question...are we as women strong enough to handle large dogs, horses, cows, sheep, dog food bags, hay bales and carry animals from surgery?
Well the answer is yes. Every single time. Because we are vet nurses.
BUT....the most important thing we carry is our heart on our sleeves. 🩷
Happy International women's day!
Being a woman is powerful but being a vet nurse is your super power.

For some fun, please share your pets Christmas photos below!
Our staff dog Barney is a bit of a grinch this Christmas...not a big fan of the Santa hat as you can see.. 🎅

Yesterday, we celebrated our wonderful class of 2023 graduating as Veterinary nurses with Bachelor degrees!
That's three years of assignments, placements, classes, tests, exams, skills, field trips and most importantly...caring for countless numbers of animals (of all species!).
From all of the staff and lecturers here at Melbourne Polytechnic- congratulations! It's been a privilege to have been a part of your Vet nursing journey and to have watched you grow. We can't wait to see what you continue to do as graduates.
We will miss you but look forward to what you will do for the veterinary industry! You should all be very proud of yourselves!
Please tag each other! 🙂
P.S To my students, thank-you for being a pivotal part of my own teaching journey, as my first official group of graduates...you'll always be my Vet Nurse Barbies!
