Kinesiology taping is a therapeutic technique that involves applying a specialized elastic tape strategically to specific muscles, joints or areas of discomfort.
BENEFITS:
⭐️ Pain relief – The elasticity of the tape gently lifts the skin, immediately reducing pressure on sensitive pain receptors beneath the skin
⭐️ Promote muscle strength recovery – The tape’s recoiling force is aligned in the direction that the muscle contracts. This consistently stimulates skin mechanoreceptors, positively impacting muscle strength.
⭐️ Decrease swelling & oedema – Promotes lymphatic circulation & blood flow by expanding the subcutaneous space.
⭐️ Improve proprioception & static balance – Stimulation of the mechanoreceptors in the skin from the pressure of the tape or stretching of the skin, can allow the body to be more aware of joint motion and position.
Our Osteopaths may use kinesiology taping in conjunction with other osteopathic techniques. Consult with your osteo in your next session if you think it may benefit you.

During Osteopathy Awareness Month, we invite Australians to discover how osteopathy can contribute to their health journeys. Whether they are navigating acute or chronic conditions, or simply aiming to enhance their overall health and wellbeing.
Osteopathy can cover a wide array of issues, including, but not limited to:
• Back and Neck Pain: With 45% of Australians experiencing lower back pain1 and 24% suffering from neck pain1, tailored treatments aim to alleviate pain and improve mobility, address the root causes of discomfort and promote long-term health.
• Workplan strain: A staggering 90% of office workers admit to spending the majority of their day in front of a computer1, which is at complete odds with the 40:15: 5 rule! Osteopathy addresses these issues by tackling repetitive strain injuries and postural issues arising from workplace environments, promoting ergonomic health and preventing long-term discomfort.
• Sports injury: Six out of 10 Australians aged 15 or over participated in some form of sport or physical activity at least three times a week once during 2020-20222. While participation has many health and social benefits, a recent survey revealed that 19% of participants were injured in 20223. Osteopathy focuses on recovery and prevention, using techniques that can enhance performance and extend sports careers by ensuring the body's mechanical efficiency.
• Chronic pain management: With one in six Australians living with chronic pain every day, osteopathy offers strategies for managing conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic headaches, focusing on natural pain relief and improving quality of life.
• Arthritis support: Despite 22% of Australians believing that arthritis prevention is impossible1, and another 20% thinking medication is the only treatment1, osteopathy may offer effective support. It may improve mobility and reduces pain without the sole reliance on medication.

Got back pain?
There is upper back pain & lower back pain, which may be treated differently:
Upper back pain may be due to the thoracic spine which is located at the back of the chest (the thorax), mostly between the shoulder blades and include many bone and tissue structures.
Low back pain is often caused by a strain of muscles or joints, in the back, usually at a time when we are more vulnerable – for example, when we are run down, tired, stressed, tense, inactive or overactive. Our increasingly sedentary lifestyle can also lead to poor posture and musculoskeletal problems, which may result in low back pain.

Your pelvis is a complex transition area between your legs and the rest of your body – such as your legs, back, ribs, or shoulders. Osteos take a whole body approach. They are trained to find the links between all parts of the body and find the root cause to your pelvic pain.
Tell your osteo your story. They will provide a tailored treatment plan and guidance, suited to your specific needs.
