Have you heard of BIEDAW?

Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week (BIEDAW) is a national week to raise awareness of body image concerns and eating disorders.

Did you know that 1 in 6 people think that eating disorders are a lifestyle choice or about vanity?

The way we talk about food, bodies, appearance and eating disorders has an impact – and we all have a role to play in shifting misconceptions and breaking down stigma. It’s key in encouraging people to seek help.

Who is National Nutrition Foundation? Good question. We are an independent, national not-for-profit organisation with a fresh approach to nutrition.

We believe in food for life. Food and health are intrinsically linked but, food is not the only factor that determines our health, and health is not the only reason we eat food.

Our mission is to enable, empower and influence Australia’s food systems and the people who depend on them.

Okay, let's iron this out. It's not just your crinkled shirt and that person pumping iron at the gym who need iron.

Iron is essential for everyday life. It is an important mineral found in a range of foods that help transport oxygen around the body.

Did you know some foods can help our bodies absorb iron, while others can inhibit it?

To ensure your iron is being absorbed we recommend that you:

🍊 Eat foods high in vitamin C with foods that contain iron.
🍳 Cook your plant foods to improve the amount of available iron.
☕ Avoid having tea, coffee or calcium during or directly after having a source of iron.

One for the books 🌿

Recently, our Accredited Practising Dietitian, Margaret, experienced Cobram Estate in (olive) oil of it’s glory. Tucked away in Boundary Bend, Victoria, she observed the fascinating harvesting and production of Cobram Estate's Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and was treated to a delicious lunch and oil tasting (YUM).

Did you know?
🌳 There are 2.5 million olive trees across two groves!
⏰ Harvesting occurs 24/7 for 8 weeks a year.
🤖 The picking machines (13 in total) pick 58 trees per hour!
🕒 Olives are picked and processed into EVOO in under 6 hours.
🥶 Bottling is all temperature-controlled and done in Lara, VIC.

Extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality oil. It is not refined or extracted using any chemicals or heat making it 100% natural and packed with health-promoting polyphenols and healthy monounsaturated fats.
