Just because a person doesn’t put hands on you, doesn’t mean they are not abusive. Abuse is control, blatant disrespect, and also hurtful words.
Don’t settle for emotional abuse thinking it’s ok because it’s not physical.

A great reminder. I wish I had read this in my early 20s. I had a very misguided idea of what love looked like way back then. I saw extreme jealousy, anger, and control as his expression of how much he must really love me. It obviously (now), was not love at all. Abuse takes many forms.

If you can voluntarily confront the things that disturb you and compel you to avoid and feel paralysed by in your life, the more you can sit with and look at the harsh realities of your life, the more you expose the parts willingly that you’re scared of and disturbed by, the braver and the healthier you will become. The more you can sit with those parts that terrify you, the more you observe them with diligence, the fear and doom is replaced by hope, opportunities to see and be another way. Reflections on considering what my life would look and feel like today if I didn’t choose to grow. In all honesty, if I think back 5 to 10 years, who I’d be if I didn’t choose growth, the life I’d be leading, it all pales in comparison to the wonderful life I’m living. If I didn’t choose growth I’d be stuck, likely depressed, highly anxious, low in confidence and utterly unfulfilled in a loveless marriage. That’s the short version. My life is by no means perfect, yet my life has never been more fulfilling, rich with wonderful people and experiences. My family have absolutely benefited from my growth and I’m so very proud of how my own growth has positively influenced each of my 4 children. I certainly would not have attracted the incredible man who chooses to love me so completely. I wouldn’t have this incredible business, which brings so much fulfilment in helping others to overcome their challenges, and celebrating them on the other side. My own growth is my number 1 priority in life. If something doesn’t support my growth, it’s off the table and not negotiable. No question. I’ve worked too hard to let anything keep me static. Growth takes courage. Fear will be waiting for you. My advice is to walk directly into that fear and keep walking until you come out the other side. Of course, we are here to offer you any support you may need. You never have to face it alone.
