APRIL MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT: The ever so lovely and knowledgeable Rhiannon Hardingham will be presenting on Herbs in Pregnancy: benefits, risk, and safety πŸ₯

Herbal medicines have been used for thousands of years to optimise and manage pregnancy and birth, however almost no scientific data exists regarding safety for the pregnant person and foetus. This leads to significant confusion and even anxiety for both practitioners and patients. The potential benefits of appropriately prescribed herbal medicines for normal and high-risk pregnancies is profound, but the practitioner must always keep in mind risk/benefit analysis, as well as their medico legal responsibilities.

In this presentation, Rhiannon will discuss the pros and cons of using herbal medicines in pregnancy, and provide clinical insights drawn from her vast experience in this tricky field.

A subject that is so important, and can be very hard to find information on! Definitely not one to miss out on!

PLEASE NOTE: this event is on WEDNESDAY 24/4/24, due to the public holiday.

Event is live and in person, no recording or webinar will be available.

Do you feel confident in supporting your clients with body image issues and eating disorders?

I'm sure a lot of practitioners would answer no to this question. On the other hand though, if you asked practitioners have they ever identified or supported a client with body image issues or eating disorders (past or present), almost everyone would say yes.

Working in the nutrition/naturopathic space it's inevitable that these issues will come up with your clients, and it would be great if more practitioners felt confident and equipped to effectively support, and refer their clients where necessary.

Which is why we are so excited for Matilda Bartleys talk this week, on The Holistic Approach to Body Image and Eating Disorders in Practice.

This presentation will explore the intersections of body image concerns and eating disorders within naturopathic practice. Matilda Bartley, nutritionist and peer mentor will delve into understanding body image issues, the nuances of eating disorders, and the impact and role of practitioners in this space. additionally, Matilda will discuss referrals, health at every size (HAES) and collaborative care approaches to supporting people with body image issues effectively.

Introducing our first speaker of the year πŸ₯ Lauren Wood!

Lauren will be presenting on Gut Microbiome and Functional Testing, something I think we are all eager to learn more about,

Lauren is a Bachelor level qualified Naturopathic Practitioner and Mum of 3 boys. She is so passionate about Naturopathic medicine and seeing the positive impact that it has on people's lives.

She takes a functional approach when treating her patients to ensure treatment is targeted, specific, and achieves results.

She is a strong believer in investigating the root cause to truly heal an individual.

Lauren has a keen interest in gut health and the overall digestive system. Experiencing chronic gut health issues of her own and healing her gastrointestinal system, she understands the ins and outs. She has personally undergone all the testing (conventional and naturopathic) and has so much empathy for just how much of a burden this can be on quality of life.

She has undergone extensive training in the gut health space, in particular SIBO and studying the microbiome where we now have access to snap-shot metagenomic sequencing, which tests the DNA of the microbes residing in the microbiome. This information has been transformational in that we can now manipulate the microbiome in a targeted way and are achieving such phenomenal results.

Lauren also has a keen interest in Women's health, Hormones, Thyroid, Skin, the Reproductive cycle and Fertility (both women and men). She has conducted additional training in Advanced Cosmetic Science so is very familiar with treating the skin from the inside out.
