2nd Chance Cat Rescue
2nd Chance Cat Rescue started in July 2011, rehoming rescued cats and kittens to good homes.
We are based in the City of Casey in the outer South-East Melbourne Suburbs (in Victoria, Australia) but if you are looking for a cat in a different state, go to http://www.petrescue.com.au/rescue_directory/ to see different organizations in different states.
Fantastic news!
Ernie has been missing fir about 4 years. Getting picked up this afternoon.
4 long years and miles away from home.
Happy ending, so pleased for having a microchip reader.
Today dinner is a bit early, because while I'm writing this I can hear rain on the roof of our big shed.
Kizzi and Zebra are now sharing an enclosure but this morning come had a grumpy little girl.
I wonder what she grumbled about.
Thanks for watching and following our page.

If you are thinking of becoming a foster carer.

Our vets are in Cranbourne, Hampton Park and Avonsleigh
Been very busy today after work. Stacking wood for I think 3 hours.
One reason we have not had an adoption day was we were splitting wood and now stacking for next winter wood supply.
Never a dull moment at 2nd Chance Cat Rescue headquarters.
still available for adoption!
Meet Messi, the charming kitten who has already won hearts and accolades akin to his famous namesake! At just 4 months old, Messi has taken the title of the "Ballon D'Or" winner in the kitty world an extraordinary 8 times, showcasing his playful and confident personality.

Meet darling Astrid!
Not only is she absolutely beautiful, but she has the sweetest personality.
She's shy with new people, but once she knows you she is so extremely affectionate.
When the morning alarm goes off, she comes immediately into the bedroom for cuddles, chirping away with excitement.
She's perfect with other cats, but could be happy as an only cat if not left alone most of the day.
(Or if you want two cats, she could be adopted with any of the other fosters here).
Astrid is honestly one of the most amazing cats that's ever been in the Brunswick West foster house. She is so adored, and would make a great addition to any home.

Did you know that your bottles, cans and some drink containers can be cashed in ?
We just bought some treats for our cats and kittens with the money. And I think they LOVE us or You for any treats you can buy them.
Why not put your recycling away for 2nd Chance Cat Rescue .
Guess my name!
I'm new to the rescue and my foster carer thinks I'm the brother of Saffron, Squirrel and Batty.
I give you some clue's it's not a cat name but you find my name sake in Africa?
A little update on our Adopted Kittens Lisa and Olympia.
"Last year and earlier this year we unfortunately had to put out 2 cats down due to old age.
We were ready to add some kitties to our family again.
Ive followed 2nd Chance for a while and know of the great work they do. So obviously they were a choice to try and find another bonded pair.
It was important for us to get a bonded pair because our last ones we had for 12 years and they are always harder to rehome.
I saw these beautiful sisters and fell in love instantly. Lisa has been renamed Muffin and Olympia has been renamed Sox. Any parent would know where these names came from.
These girls are the most timid and lovely souls.
My amazing kids have been so patient in letting them settle in that now the girls cheekiness is coming out.
They love to play, love their treats and most importantly they seem to have settled in well. I now have two heaters for my feet at night when i go to bed.
Muffin and Sox are here to stay and we wouldn't have it any other way."
Yesterday I showed you Squirrel which went to the Vet with Saffron, the little ginger girl.
Vet thinks they are about 5 month old . Bloodtest and X rays taken a few weeks ago . The 5th vet visit for Saffron. Vet Matilda, which had a look at Squirrel too and suggested , instead of using more funds on tests etc , to get them desexed and see it there is fat in their little bodies instead of anything else.
Fat kittens as strays? How come!
They are living behind a butchers store. So lots of offcuts to choose from.
I still have a giggle thinking they are fat.
Now I have to work out how kittens need to loose weight. I should know Iost 15 kilos last year and kept it off.
Do you have any tips or ideas?
STOCKING UP!!!
can you help us? This kitten season will be a real killer.
If you our page you know we don't often ask for help and if you check out our website www.2ndchancecatrescue.com.au you can see how many cats and kittens are available for adoption.

Coco was adopted today. CONGRATULATIONS to finding a super special family to treasure you today.
We will miss you. But so happy that you are staring your new journey today.
3rd vet visit for Squirrel, about 5-month-old.
She has a temperature and watery eyes.
But we are very concerned about why she is so rounded.
3rd vet seeing her. We did bring, which we think is her sister to the vet too. Vet did see Saffron first then squirrel and after checking Saffron again came to the conclusion that both kittens are FAT.
Yes FAT. Coming from an area near a Butcher makes sense.
Squirrel needs to recover from her cat flu and is getting desexed and checked out at the same time.
In the 14 years of rescue, we never had FAT kittens.
Worms or FIP but FAT is the first.

Come and meet the friendly Charcoal!
Charcoal is a stunning tortoiseshell cat with a warm personality. Her beautiful coat and bright, intelligent eyes hint at the engaging character that lies beneath. Being a senior cat, Charcoal needs someone with patience and best suits a quiet household. Once you gained her trust, you will find she has a sweet personality and her torti-tude adds a sprinkle of spice to her interactions, making her a wonderful and entertaining companion. Though affectionate and sweet, she also has her independent moments and enjoys having a little bit of her own space.

Another big day at home.
Today was such a beautiful day we finally got the chance to split some more wood for next winter.
If you run a 2nd Chance Cat Rescue there is never a dull moment.
What did you do today?
This is Libbi - a beautiful long hair tabby girl 😍
Libbi came to our rescue with her two sisters and she is 13 weeks old. She is very different to her two sisters. First of all, she is long hair which is lush and soft. Secondly she is quieter but more like she is thinking all the time. She is more mature for her age - she explores and responds in her own time.
Not yet available for adoption but hopefully soon once all the vet work is done and will be listed on our website.

Come and meet resilient Annie!
Annie's journey to find a loving home has not been an easy one. She spent a significant amount of time evading capture, surviving on the streets with her kittens and living amongst dumpsters and trash. Annie has made remarkable progress since coming into rescue. Initially distrusting of humans, she has flourished in the safe and nurturing environment of being indoors. Annie has truly embraced the life of a pampered housecat and has made herself right at home. Annie is still learning that humans can be kind and trustworthy, but she has a sweet temperament and is eager to receive all the love you can give her. She is gradually becoming more confident with each passing day. Annie absolutely adores receiving scratches and pats. She has a princess-like personality but is also very playful and silly. She is making up for the time she wasn’t able to be a kitten when surviving living on the street. Annie would thrive in a household with another feline friend and is not suited to homes with small children.

Come and meet the affectionate Coco!
Coco is a small-sized adult cat with stunning tabby fur that shimmers with a hint of cocoa. Being sociable is second nature to Coco. She thrives in the company of other friendly cats, making her well-suited to a home with other feline companions. She doesn't mind a heartwarming pat or a snug cuddle from her human companions and is quite affectionate, making her an ideal companion for those in need of a warm and loving pet. Each moment spent with Coco is delightful, her graceful demeanor and friendly personality make for a great companion.

Meet Damien Priest (the cat)!
Whilst he may be the mightiest of his litter, this beautiful Tuxedo Boy is the reserved one. Once out of his shell, he's got a lot of love to give to someone that will allow him the time to show them and will find his way up onto the couch or bed to sit next to you. He's very gentle, would suit a quiet home and would love another feline friend.

Meet the sweet-natured Clessie!
This mama was found three days after she had given birth in a box, out the back of a truck mechanic. The mechanics named her after the founder of an engine company.
She was super confused when she arrived into foster care with her babies but has adapted amazingly to the domestic indoor life. Blankets and beds definitely top cardboard and rubble! She’s an amazing mother to her kittens but she’s ready to live her own life.
Clessie would make a good companion cat. She’s not a big fan of receiving affection, but when she trusts you she enjoys sitting and sleeping nearby. Honestly, she’s a sweet girl who just wants to hang out. Perfect if you want company but not the intense demand of kittens. She also gets along amazingly with other cats and smooches up to them. If your cat needs a friend to keep them busy, sweet Clessie is a great option.

About 2nd Chance Cat Rescue..
Founded in 2011, 2nd Chance Cat Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abandoned, stray and surrendered kittens and cats. Our rescue is run entirely by volunteers in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
2nd Chance Cat Rescue has a pro-life approach, with well over 2000 feral/stray and abandoned kittens successfully socialised and re-homed. We have found that even the most apprehensive or timid animals can become wonderful companions if enough quality time is spent with them and our carers go to great lengths in doing so. All potential owners are screened using a comprehensive questionnaire designed to ensure that the cats and kitten(s) are suited to their new environment and owners before leaving 2nd Chance Cat Rescue.
All our cats and kittens available for adoption are listed on https://www.petrescue.com.au/groups/10215/2nd-Chance-Cat-Rescue
Our rescue relies on the support and generosity of all of our followers.
