The Two-Handed team of Rod Smallman and Leeton Hulley know that all too well after an underwater collision took their Jeanneau Sunfast 3600 Maverick out of contention. "We hit something heavy," said Smallman. "Part of the deck was also shattered.
"We were taking a bit of water, but there was not a safety issue.
"We are gutted. We were the furthest east, in the current and thought we were in good shape."

The ORCV Women Skippers and Navigators race is on again Sunday 4th July. The race requires women to hold the positions of helm, navigator and radio with any gender as remaining crew. Last weekend was the RORC Myth of Malham ocean race with 38 entries in the 2-handed division. 1st went to “Gentoo” with James Harayda and Dee Caffari, then “Aries” followed by Team Bomby/Robertson. 4th was the Sun Fast 3600 “Bellino”, while in 5th was the 3200 “Cora” which also won IRC 4. A clean sweep for Sun Fast’s 👏
