Demanding race conditions today. 9 boats out with three redirects.
Well done.
Slowly disappearing.
Timbers will be used for various projects.
HSC has got two nice pieces to use for a memory to the old pier.
Well the old Hampton pier is almost gone. What will the new one look like? Will it last the rising tides of global warming?
I hope that the timbers are reused in a artistic and useful manner.

I should like to see our little pond like this again without the huge parking lot for toys next door. The water and sands free to run in and out with the tides. Not clogging up the beaches and making it hard for the flora and fauna to exist.

Thanks to William Brown for the photos.
On this International Women's Day I would like to give our respect and admiration to the women who were responsible for the founding of our club.
After world war 2 Sandringham Yacht Club was still denying women the opportunity to become sailors in their own right. This was after women fought and died in various military organisations.
The upshot was a group of strong willed women that got together and managed to start the Victorian Ladies Yacht Club (VLYC).
From their humble beginnings in a shed on the old foreshore these pioneers sailed various classes of yachts and the club thrived. Eventually the VLYC moved to our present site and later became Hampton Sailing Club (HSC) after the equal opportunities laws came in in about 1982.
So without these wonderfully strong female pioneers HSC would not exist. They showed the men they are equal to the task and could hold their own on and off the water.
As Commodore I am immensely proud of the VLYC and what it has given not only the local community but indeed the whole sailing community.
Celebrate International Womens' Day with pride.

Apparently cars used to be allowed to drive on the beach at Brighton. The little motorist is Peter Esperson at Dendy Street Beach, 1940s. That is a cool looking car. Museums Victoria https://collections.museumsvictoria.com.au/items/1689003
