This is a question I often get asked. ✨

So, for those reading this post, let me tell you why I ask you questions about your skin, health, and life when you visit the studio for a treatment.

✨ Skin is a multifaceted organ, and all aspects must be considered before every treatment, even a gentle facial treatment.

I promise it’s not because I want to sell you stuff(as a few people have said). I personally don’t run my business with a sales focus.

✨ Educate and Inform: Provide information about the treatment process, expected results, and aftercare, ensuring realistic expectations. Many people have completely unrealistic expectations about what one treatment will do.

✨ Safety First: By understanding your skin type and any allergies, including food, medication, and anything that may make you feel uncomfortable and panicky during treatment, such as claustrophobia, we ensure the treatment is safe and effective. Withholding information can be dangerous even though you think it’s only a facial!

✨ Determine Suitability: Evaluate whether the treatment suits your skin type and health conditions. Many people don’t realise that there are many contraindications to treatments and products.

For example, people with lupus are unsuitable for LED and chemical p*eling treatments.

Or, if you are a migraine sufferer, certain scents can trigger a migraine.

✨ To Customise your Treatment : based on your skin condition, needs, lifestyle, and preferences, optimising results and your comfort. Remember, we are all unique, and so are our skin.

✨ Building Trust: It’s all about creating a comfortable space where you feel confident, pampered and cared for.

I hope this information has been of some help as to why you need to fill in consultation forms and answer questions before a treatment. Lindy

Bio -microneedling can be used for more than just treating skin conditions.

It is the most amazing treatment for giving skin an optimal hydration boost weather through a course of treatments or as a one off before a special occasion.

My beautiful studio guest had been ill with the flu, which left her naturally beautiful skin dry, dehydrated, and lacking the vibrancy it usually has.

To refresh her skin, we used the Nourish and Hydrate Bio-microneedling treatment that has restore clarity, fullness and hydration to her skin.

The results really do speak for themselves. ✨

Please get touch if you would love more information on Bio - Microneedling and how it can benefit and change your skin. Lindy X

Choose Kindness - We all have our struggles; it’s not a competition nor our place to judge, compare, or downplay them.

No one’s plate is fuller than another’s; irrespective of our circumstances, there is no scale regarding life’s challenges. We all face them. Lindy 💚X

Spraying perfume directly onto your neck, décolleté, and any area of skin can be detrimental to your skin, depending on its level of reactiveness.

Yet, many of us do it every single day without thinking.

Look at any fragrance ad; the model is spraying scent directly onto her skin more often than not.

Synthetic, alcohol-based fragrances and even those with natural extracts such as essential oils all contain allergenic compounds, which can be highly irritating when sprayed directly onto the skin.

These can create an inflammation response within our skin, and hyperpigmentation is a typical response to any irritation to the skin.

The mix of fragrant ingredients disrupts the skin’s barrier, setting off an avalanche of inflammatory skin markers.

Inflammation within our skin causes pigment-producing cells to start the overproduction of pigment.

Combined with UV exposure, which thins and breaks down collagen in the skin, pigment cells produce even more melanin than the skin cells can manage.

Leading to darker or unevenly toned patches of skin and premature ageing.

If you already have inflammation and uneven pigment in your skin or want to avoid getting skin damage to this delicate area.

Spray your fragrance directly on and around your clothes.

Your skin will thank you for it. Lindy 💚

Slugging—For those unfamiliar with the term, it means applying a thick petroleum-based product (such as Vaseline or a thick balm) as the final step in your routine to help lock and seal in your skincare products overnight.

It’s not a new trend in the professional skin industry, but it has gained widespread popularity recently due to K-beauty and social media (thanks, TikTok 🙄).

However, it’s important to understand that this is not a long-term solution for your skin. I’ve noticed increased skin issues related to this trend, especially among clients who believe it’s a cure-all for their skin.

Slugging the skin is a Band-Aid. Complete occlusion of the skin is meant to be temporary and only used in specific situations where the skin barrier is significantly compromised.

Or from treatments such as chemical p*eling and ablative skin treatments, where we find the skin experiences increased trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) and barrier impairment.

It should not be used daily for an extended period to treat watery, dry, and impaired skin. Plenty of other methods and products achieve the same result and are much more beneficial for the skin.

Continuous complete occlusion(slugging) can inhibit the skin’s ability to regenerate and function(our skin is an organ, remember) in the long term.

When you stop using this method, your skin will quickly become dry because it does not promote healing, repair, or regeneration. This only leads to a cycle of using occlusive products.

Instead, nourish your skin with ingredients such as cholesterol, peptides, and ceramides. Relying solely on an artificial barrier to prevent water loss is not the best approach.

Remember, slugging should only be used temporarily, not as a long-term solution for skin barrier issues and dry skin.

I hope this information will assist you in seeing through skin trends that may not benefit your skin. Lindy 💚X

Glass Skin is often perceived as a synonym for perfect skin originating from K-beauty but has been picked up by Western culture and social media influencers. ✨

Social media’s approach to promoting skincare is problematic because it relies heavily on trend cycles that don’t suit most people’s skin.

In a world driven by profits, trends, aka Glass Skin, are manufactured to drive earnings in BIG business.

Suppose we rely solely on social media influencers and celebrities to shape our understanding of skin, as a significant portion of the population does.

In that case, we might start to believe that we should resemble dolphins with nothing but smooth, pore-less, shiny glass, the epitome of glass skin.

Glass skin is a method\ technique of layering on hydrating products up to seven times after cleansing, using multiple lightweight layers of hydrating products.

Hence, the skin looks dewy and plump, like glass, which is unattainable for most of us.

Skin is a living and breathing organ, and using so many products solely designed for hydrating can create many skin issues. Our skin does not function that way.

While the glass skin aims for a pore-less look, the size of pores cannot be controlled. They are a natural element of our skin’s texture, and their size largely depends on skin type, age, and genetics.

You can have glowing, fresh skin, but following the glass skin trend is not where you find this long-term.

For most people, it does not magically address their skin concerns; it just makes them worse.

There is no holy grail of products that will magically do it all, even though TickTok and influencers like to make you think there is.

As dull as it may sound, practical, sensible, tailored advice from a trained, trusted skin professional is the way to go to help you achieve glowing skin and address your unique skin needs. Love Lindy X💚

A journey in age management and how you choose to manage it is deeply personal. ✨

This post is about skin health information, not a debate on whether you do or don’t believe in injectables. 🥰

Through the years, I have seen many clients present in the studio with the misconception that my skin treatment services and professionally prescribed skincare are luxury items and not needed to maintain their skin, but their injectables are absolutely necessary.

Let’s clarify: Skincare and skin health are crucial to maintaining the skin, even if you opt for Botox, filler and skin boosters.

Remember, your skin is a canvas on which injectables are built on. The correct skin care routine will amplify and prolong the longevity of your cosmetic results.

You could still have the most beautiful cosmetic work and “bad” skin.

No matter how sharp your jawline is, injectables can’t fix underlying skin concerns such as poor skin texture, a compromised skin barrier, rosacea, acne, skin dullness, or pigmentation.

Here are a few suggestions to enhance your injectable results.

Regular facial treatments DO work! They not only relax you. Stress and a busy lifestyle will age you more than anything else; they also assist in improving the skin’s overall health.

Use daily sunscreen. Spending money on injectables is worthwhile only if you protect your skin from UV rays.

The use of a retinol or retinol alternative. This assists in the collagen-boosting benefits of fillers over time.

The Use of SuperSerum by Synergie, available from the studio- is a fantastic serum that anecdotally prolongs the results of anti-wrinkle injections. A few clinical papers are written on this serum to back this up.

Lifestyle matters— stress management, a healthy diet low in sugars, refined foods, and alcohol, as well as good gut and bowel health, assist in maintaining our overall wellbeing and skin health.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. If so, leave a little 💚. Love Lindy X

Nature’s Micro Miracle for skin regeneration. ✨

As sharp as rod crystals under the microscope, sapodilla Spicilues are extracted from freshwater sponges and, to our naked eye, appear as a micro-fine needle-like powder.

This micro-fine powder component provides a highly effective modality of skin regeneration and an alternative approach to clinical skin resurfacing treatments.

Such as microdermabrasion, conventional skin needling, chemical p*els, and machine-based treatments with minimal downtime.

Bio - Microneedling can effectively treat an array of skin problems.

Such as - Age management, fine lines, rosacea, Acne, scarring, blemishes, skin hydration, pigmentation, and overall skin health maintenance.

Bio - Microneedling is launching very soon at The Peaceful Skin Co. Reach out in DM for more information on this fantastic treatment. Lindy 💚X

The wait is nearly over, launching soon at The Peaceful Skin Co. Bio - Microneedling.

The most amazing results skin for my lovely client after only one treatment of bio-micro needling.

You can see reduced skin redness, refined skin texture and overall clarity.

Bio-microneedling uses tiny natural microneedles from sapodilla spicules. These are extracted from freshwater sponges, that are massaged directly into the skin.

These spicules travel into our skin’s dermal layer to stimulate the body’s natural healing process and encourage collagen production and rejuvenation.

Minimal downtime, no skin breakage or bleeding, no numbing and suitable for all ethnicities and most skins.

I hope you will love the skin results that bio-microneedling can bring to your skin.

Reach out via DM if you have any questions. Love Lindy 💚X

Drinking water is essential for our body’s health. Yes, water consumption does benefit your skin health.

However, drinking vast amounts of water will not cure your dehydrated/dry skin. It will more likely just cause you to p*e a lot.😂

Dehydration of the skin is often environmental, from the topical use of the wrong products, hot water, air-conditioning, heating, skincare, stress, medication, diet, and age-related.

Hydration of the skin has to do with the skin’s ability to hold on to moisture, not the amount of water you drink. The skin tends to be the last organ to benefit from water intake.

If the skin’s natural barrier is compromised or the skin doesn’t naturally produce a lot of oil, water evaporates through the skin.

You tend to find once a skin barrier issue is addressed, the skin becomes less dehydrated and problematic.

Skincare does play a role in treating dehydration and skin barrier repair. Look for products that contain ceramides, hyaluronic acid, omega fatty acids, B12, lecithin, cholesterol, niacinamide, plant oils(such as sunflower oil), and peptides.

I hope this information has helped clear up a few misconceptions about water and skin. Lindy 💚X

24/05/2024

As I tell my lovely clients, no matter how you choose to age, there is no right or wrong way you do you 🙌, but do it with knowledge and education on WHY you age.

As we age, our skin changes and facial bones lengthen, as do our face proportions.

Think of the bones in the face as scaffolding, with diminished and changing bone shape. Skin tissues become too large for the underlying facial bones.

That’s why lines and skin folds become more evident on the face as we mature.

Our eye sockets enlarge and hollow, and the angle of the bones underneath our eyebrows decreases.

This contributes to the formation of lines we may see on our forehead, smile lines at the corners of our eyes and looser skin on our eyelids.

The angles and length of our brow, nose and upper jaw bones lengthen in the middle part of the face.

Yes, it is a thing; our noses change shape as we age.

The size and height of the lower jaw decrease and recede; this is why we see changes in our facial shape around the jawline.

I hope this post and the previous posts have given you an insight into why our face/skin. Lindy 💚X

20/05/2024

To age well, we need to understand the process of why our facial features age.

Many changes happen beneath the surface of our skin when we age.

One of the main changes we all experienced is the movement and diminishing of our facial fat pads.

Fat pads are areas of densely packed, subcutaneous fat cells. Not only on the face, but we also have fat pads on other body parts, such as our knees, elbows, heels, and feet.

As we naturally age, facial fat pads in the upper and mid-face diminish while those in our lower face tend to become fuller.

As we move into later in life, deeper fat pads, such as in our cheeks and eye area, decrease, reducing their support of the superficial fat in places on the face and neck; this is when we see the skin sag.

As the fat pads diminish and lose volume, our face’s upper and middle parts lose structure and fullness, while the lower part gets a heavier appearance.

Our faces can look narrower and hollow when the fat pads are depleted due to the lost fullness.

Where the heaviness of the fat accumulates, the skin loses its elasticity, so we find areas such as the jawline becoming less defined with age.

We tend to find the eye area, cheek area, nasal area, temple area, and neck area are the main areas affected by the loss of volume from the decline in volume from our fat pads.

Fat pad changes don’t occur evenly on both sides of the face, leading to a loss of symmetry. This is why we notice that our eyebrows and eyelids become lower on one side of the front than the other.

It is impossible to stop this natural process; however, an active lifestyle, keeping your stress levels in check, a diet low in sugar/ processed foods and alcohol and a good skincare regime, daily SPF use can improve overall elasticity and firmness to counteract the effects of fat pad changes.

Regular facial massage can help tone and contour, lift the face and neck area, and increase blood flow to our muscles and fat pads.

No matter how you age, do it with knowledge and education. This enables you to make the correct choices for yourself and your skin health with the various products, technologies and treatments available to us. Love Lindy 💚X

Mother’s Day means different things to different people. For some, it’s a day filled with joy, celebration and happiness; for others, it’s a day of silent challenges.

Constant social media posts, advertising, and the expectations that everyone celebrates this day can add to someone’s internal pain.

Anxiety is a deeply personal and can be a complex condition.

An anxiety disorder, more often than not, goes hand-in-hand with skin issues.

I see many clients who have never had problems with their skin and are at a loss for why it’s happening and unaware of the role their anxiety is playing in their skin health.

1 - Anxiety changes the balance of our hormones and neurotransmitters in our brain, one of the many reasons that anxiety sufferers experience acne, hives, allergies, skin dullness, eczema and skin breakouts.

2 - Anxiety constricts our blood vessels and sends a rush of blood to different areas of the body. ; these changes in blood flow can make your skin feel more tingly, numb, and hot.

Making the skin more sensitive to both touch and inflammatory skin conditions.

3 - Anxiety weakens the immune system, and stress releases cortisol to make the skin more sensitive. Your skin may react more intensely to products you haven’t had any issues with.

4 - It is worth noting anxiety creates hypersensitivity. Where you become more mentally heightened, that mild itch you may not even notice means you are aware of it more, and the sensation feels more substantial than it otherwise would, leading to more picking and scratching of your skin.

5 - SSRI-based medications used in the treatment of anxiety and depression can cause an increased risk of broken capillaries, meaning skin can be more prone to flushing, general redness, acne, and hyperpigmentation can also worsen. Please note if you have been prescribed medication, it’s essential you take it, and if you are experiencing skin side effects, chat with your doctor. 💚

6- Don’t forget your diet. The interaction between the gut, brain and skin should not be overlooked when assessing your skin.

The natural balance of the gut can become skewed, and so can our eating habits when we suffer from anxiety, which directly affects the skin.

Please get in touch if I can assist you with any of your skin needs. I'm here to help. Lindy 💚X

Slow and steady is the most essential ingredient in any skincare routine.

I know most people don’t want to hear this as we all want that wonder product and instant results, but truthfully, no matter your skin issue/goal, your skin progress will most likely be measured in weeks/months, not days.

Your home skincare accounts for about 80% and in-salon treatments and 20% towards your skin health. So what you do at home matters!

Patience and commitment win the race regarding long-term skin results and having realistic expectations of your products. Lindy 💚X

Ok, hands up, who’s used a product that tingles and stings and thought this product must be fantastic as it’s working on my skin? 🤔

While it’s tempting to believe that the stronger the product, the better it will work for your skin, this is not always true.

It’s important to remember that harsh side effects are not synonymous with product efficacy.

There can be side effects, such as tingling and flushing when introducing or increasing specific actives in your skincare routine, but this is something that certainly should not last long-term.

The most effective products are the ones you’ll use consistently.

What good is a product if it’s causing your skin discomfort regularly? It’s more likely to damage your skin then.

Remember, Gentleness and consistency can achieve great skin results on their own! Don’t sacrifice comfort and ease of use for perceived potency. Lindy 💚X
