I got a 30k tax bill this morning. My business earns a small profit or a small loss each month... i basically break even if i am lucky, without paying myself a wage. HOW THE f**k does that work? Do only small businesses pay tax these days?

Does anyone know anyone who runs a fire safety inspection company? Anyone got links to Fire Equipment Services or similar? My new real estate agent wants me to pay $900 for the privilege of having a company look at fire escapes and test my extinguishers. Extinguisher refreshment and emergency lighting installation not included in that price but i think they will be inevitable extra fees too.

Deano our CEO of The Good Brew Company has been honoured to again be appointed Independent Judge for the Kombucha Section of the 54th Eltham Wine Show, with the Public Open Day for tastings and prizes to be held on Sunday 19 November, at The Veneto Club, 191 Bulleen Road, Bulleen from 10.30 - 2.30.

In addition to a range of grape wines, country wines, meads and ciders, there is a Category called Kombucha which includes 3 classes - Unflavoured, Infused and Jun. Last year’s were excellent!

Deadline for applications is 20 October with the form and only $8 per entry to discover if yours might be the best homemade kombucha in the southern hemisphere!

Mushfest is a free ticketed event aimed at people who want to expand their knowledge of mushrooms. Starting on Saturday 14 October at Kensington Stockyard Food Garden, you’ll hear a series of free talks exploring fungi under the microscope. You can also book an at cost cooking workshop, learn to brew Kombucha, or how to grow king stropharia mushrooms.

On Sunday 15 October the festival will be held at Flemington and Kensington Bowling Club. Hear from an expert panel discussing mushroom medicine for human health and planetary wellbeing. The discussion will be led by Dr Martin Williams, coordinator of Australian clinical trials on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in palliative care.
