How to Identify and Break Free from Energy-Draining Habits.
🧠 Kwik Fact: Motivation is all about energy management and optimization.
By recognizing and addressing these energy-draining habits, you're not only revitalizing your energy but also optimizing your brain health and unlocking your limitless potential.
🪫 Insufficient Physical Activity: Engaging in regular physical activity not only increases your energy levels but also stimulates blood flow to the brain, promoting cognitive function and enhancing your ability to learn and retain information. Remember, as your body moves, your brain grooves!
🪫 Dehydration: Water is essential for optimal brain function. Staying hydrated improves concentration, memory, and overall cognitive performance.
🪫 Resentment: Holding on to resentment can occupy valuable mental space, hindering your ability to focus, concentrate, and learn effectively. Letting go of resentment frees up your mental energy for more productive pursuits.
🪫 Lack of Sleep: Quality sleep is vital for brain health and learning.
🪫 Poor Diet Habits: A healthy diet rich in nutrients fuels your brain and supports optimal cognitive function. What you eat matters, especially to our gray matter.
🪫 People Pleasing: Constantly prioritizing others' needs over your own can lead to chronic stress, impacting your brain's ability to learn and adapt. Setting boundaries and focusing on self-care allows your brain to recharge and promotes a positive learning environment.
🪫 Overthinking: Overthinking can create mental clutter, making it difficult to concentrate and learn effectively. Practicing mindfulness and being present in the moment helps calm the mind, improves focus, and enhances learning capacity.
What's one energy-draining habit you're committed to changing to set the tone for a productive week ahead? ⚡️

Dr Patrick Johnson, our Medical Director of the VDHP, outlining some of the support that's on offer, and how the overall cultural shift to speak up about mental health extends to medicine too. This episode explores how there's always help available and hear from a doctor who has experienced mental health issues, sought assistance and found they're better off now.

It’s been a while since the VDHP posted. Time to return!!!
Over 2022 we've been extremely busy responding to doctors and students in need: just on 300 colleagues who we have helped !
But there's more.... behind the scenes we’ve been re-invigorating and renewing our team with great plans for 2023.
A big thanks must go to the State Government of Victoria with the previous Health Minister Martin Foley who has given a boost to our funding for the next two years.
This means we will be able to offer more sensitive, timely and effective help to our doctor and medical student colleagues who are struggling. It means we can reach out further to all corners of Victoria with our wellbeing and education programs.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to contribute and support our medical workforce.
Check out our new website https://vdhp.org.au and meet the team. We'll be adding some new pages, but I think it's already looking good.!
