**Thanks to everyone who supported the clean up. We had great feedback. At this stage we aren’t required to complete the Saturday afternoon duties. **

Hi all,
SEC has been provided with an opportunity to raise some additional funds by supporting the Mildura Racing Club with the clean up before and after their 2 day race meet today (Friday 19th) and tomorrow (Saturday 20th).

We have completed the jobs listed for this morning but we are appealing for more support to help us tonight and on Saturday. (See job list and details on photos). Some of us will be heading down a bit earlier this afternoon (approx 4:30pm) but understand that people may need to arrive later due to work commitments.

Many hands make light work 🤗

Many thanks to the small but mighty team that turned up today (and special mention to Storm - who drove over from the Riverland to help!). We managed to chip the weeds out of the Show Jumping arena, which was no small feat. No before photo (bugger), but have very satisfying after photo. This arena is now ready to have the surface raked over. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Don’t forgot we have another Working Bee scheduled for next Saturday. We still have lots of jobs to tick off, including:

🔶 Weeding the Novelty arena
🔶 Picking up sticks / branches from dead trees
🔶 Mowing / whipper snipping around metal yards and round yard.

Every job we tick off is one step closer to re-opening. 🥳🐴

Reminder: Working Bee on today until 12noon. More weed warriors needed.

Grounds update 📣

The large fenced arena (beyond the grass area) received some much needed TLC last week, with thanks to the team at Haeusler's.
The sales team were able to trial their new Bednar discs and we were able to reclaim a large portion of riding surface that was affected by the flooding event.
This area should now be riding ready after a quick level off.

Keep an eye on this page for our upcoming Working Bee (date TBC) to help us do a final clean up before our staged reopening. (Opening date dependent on completion of final clean up)
More details to come..

GROUNDS UPDATE

Due to some confusion following the release of the ‘New Equestrian Centre Community Consultation’ survey, we would like to take the opportunity to clarify that the survey is NOT related to the rebuild of the Sunraysia Equestrian Centre (SEC).

It is our understanding that the purpose of the survey is to collect demographic data to develop a submission for an additional equestrian facility across the border in NSW with the support of that local council. It is not to replace or relocate the current Sunraysia Equestrian Centre.

The Sunraysia Equestrian Centre, located at 66 Racecourse Road Nichols Point, was impacted by floodwater damage last year. Assessment, clean up and maintenance has been undertaken already - with thanks to dedicated volunteers from our user clubs.
The Sunraysia Equestrian Centre Board of Management (SECBoM) is currently liaising with Mildura Rural City Council (MRCC) on the insurance claim for like-for-like replacement of the damaged SEC clubrooms, amenities and sheds. As with all insurance work this process will take some time, but the tender for the demolition is due to open in the following weeks.

Commitment from two accredited Cross Country Course Designers / Builders has also been secured by one of our SEC member clubs to rebuild the course to its former glory.

In the 40+ years since the equestrian community started utilising the Sunraysia Equestrian Centre grounds it has only been impacted by floodwater once. Climate factors are unpredictable, but learnings from this flood have been incorporated into management strategies for the future. Flood-protection measures are being investigated and flood-impact rehabilitation strategies developed, to minimise and streamline any potential future flood impacts and recovery.

We would like to reassure the equestrian community that we remain committed to rebuilding our multi-purpose equestrian facility, with plans for a staged reopening imminent. We would also like to thank the many dedicated volunteers, riders, sponsors and supporters of our wonderful facility. We look forward to sharing further updates with you in due course, and to welcome you back to our grounds.

Regards,
SECBoM Executive
