With the King Construction Men Heat resting up with a bye it will be the Azzco Engineering Lady Heat taking centre stage this weekend at the Ausloans Mildura Hothouse for the last round of the regular season as they take on 3rd placed Chelsea Gulls.

Shout out to King Construction Men's Heat player Tyjhai Byers for getting a nod in this week's Big V All Second Team. 26 Rebounds!!!

The Heat were on the road courtesy of Sixt for Big V Round 17 with both teams up against the Craigieburn Eagles and the Men with the double with a match up against the Morning Breakers as well.

For the Azzco Engineering Lady Heat, on the road with only 8, made for a tough match up against a full-strength Eagles line up. In what was a last outside chance to make finals, the girls gave it everything they had, but with numbers on their side, the Eagles ran away in the last quarter. The Lady Heat will now play 3rd placed Chelsea at home this weekend to finish off their 2024 campaign.

The King Construction Men Heat went up against both ends of the ladder on the weekend, firstly up against the last placed Mornington Breakers, with the Heat getting the job done on the scoreboard along with the opportunity to get full rotations through the roster in preparation for finals.
The second match up of the weekend saw the Heat up against 1st placed Craigieburn Eagles; in a match up, that wasn't going to take top spot but potentially solidify 2nd place and a home final.
The Heat put in a hard dig with a 34-15 run in the last but fell just short at the final buzzer.

What's next for the King Construction Men Heat:
- Currently sitting in 2nd place
- Round 18 Bye
- Final placing will depend on the results of 3rd placed Surf Coasts games this weekend.
- If the Heat finish 2nd Mildura will have a home Qualifying Final on Saturday 3 August.
- If Heat finish 3rd they will be on the road.

The Heat hit the road courtesy of Sixt this weekend for Round 17 of Big V.

The 5th placed Azzco Engineering Lady Heat will be taking on 6th placed Craigieburn in what will be a fight for both teams to keep a last finals chance alive. While for the 2nd placed King Construction Men Heat, it will be a hit out against bottom team Mornington and then getting a chance to get eye's on top team Craigieburn on Sunday before heading into finals.

Heat hold at 5th and 2nd after our Big V First Nations Round at the Ausloans Mildura Hothouse on Saturday.

In celebration for the First Nations Round our Heat teams wore customed designed uniforms and were proud to host some young men from Clontarf Academy for the evening. Special shout out must go to Azarel Johnson for his impressive skills on the Didgeridoo, thank you for sharing.

A special shout out to men's player Jack Bakewell who marked his 50 game milestone, great work Jack!

In the first match up the Azzco Engineering Lady Heat put up a great fight, however, the experienced Warrandyte Venom showed why they are the league leaders with just the one loss for the season with their hard to break defence and consistent ex*****on at the offensive end.

The King Construction Men Heat should all be up and about after a solid team win over the fast paced Collingwood All Stars and their 8th W in a row as we head into the last rounds before finals.

NAIDOC Week is an Australian observance lasting from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday. The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee, originally National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. NAIDOC Week has its roots in the 1938 Day of Mourning, becoming a week-long event in 1975.

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. The week is observed not just by Indigenous Australian communities but also by government agencies, schools, local councils, and workplaces.

As part of NAIDOC Week 7 - 14 July 2024 the rich history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will be celebrated and recognised as the Azzco Engineering Lady Heat and King Construction Men Heat celebrate Big V First Nations Round this weekend at the Ausloans Mildura Hothouse.

The Mildura Heat's Big V Indigenous design which has been used for our uniforms since 2022, was created by talented local artist Chantelle Mitchell.
The design titled Family/Team is described by Mitchell as:
Footprints representing each player in the team and their journey through their basketball career; with the symbols around the middle representing strong men and women, and the circles around the outside are meeting places but also represents when we travel around the state to different towns to play.

Basketball Victoria U12 Country Skills Day to be held in Swan Hill, Sunday 21st July, 10:00am – 4:00pm.

10 - 11 Years Old Athletes, Age is calculated as at 31/12/2024

This Basketball Victoria Skills Days are open to all athletes at country associations. The day concentrates on the individual skills relevant for players in the specific age group. This is a fantastic opportunity for Mildura Basketballers to develop their basketball, meet and train with athletes from other areas and experience the Country Victoria next level training environment.
