What a fabulous and busy five days - all made worthwhile seeing those smiling faces come out of the exam room! CONGRATULATIONS to all who completed their exams last week - from our very adorable Pre Primary girls to our beautiful Senior students!

2024 TEACHING FACULTY // KENDALL GRAY

We are very excited to introduce Kendall Gray to our team!! Kendall will be working with our classical ballet students and sharing her wonderful knowledge! ✨

Kendall began her formal dance training in Newcastle before moving to Sydney in 2017 to study at the Tanya Pearson Academy, under direction of Lucinda Dunn OAM. Here she enjoyed many opportunities including a short-term contract with The Australian Ballet, performing in their production of Christopher Wheeldon’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”.
In 2018, she won the 18 years contemporary section at Sydney Eisteddfod and was also successful in passing her Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal examination.
Later that year she moved to Scotland to take up a place at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on their ballet course.
Here Kendall enjoyed a variety of experiences and opportunities, most notably the Conservatoire’s close connection with Scottish Ballet.
It was this connection that later saw her work extensively with Scottish Ballet. Touring and performing in productions such as “The Nutcracker”, “The Snow Queen”, “Wee Hansel and Gretel” and David Dawson’s “Swan Lake”.
She graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a Bachelor of Arts in 2020, and. Post Graduate Diploma in Modern Ballet in 2022.
Kendall is excited to share her knowledge of the industry and experience within it.

2024 TEACHING FACULTY // TENILLE WEST

Introducing Tenille West to our fabulous team!! Tenille has been working with our students and sharing her expertise in the Contemporary and Jazz styles! We love having Miss Tenille with us ✨

Tenille West graduated her full-time dance training with 1st in her class for Certificate IV and went on to receive a scholarship on completion of her Diploma in Dance and Elite Performance. Along her dance journey, Tenille has had various experiences in the industry, from performing as a back up dancer on the X-Factor, competing at the Sydney Opera House, performing at the Façon Magazine Spring Fashion Runway and dancing in a music video for musician, Natalie Henry. Tenille continued her training at the Alberta Ballet School in Calgary, Canada, where she was able to learn from an array of experts with a wealth of knowledge in various techniques and dance styles. Tenille has recently signed with a modelling agency to utilise her creativity and with hopes to implement her performance background to create new things in the industry. Tenille has found a love for pushing the limits of her body in dance and movement, and also in choreography. She is excited to share her knowledge and to help dancers to reach their full potential by allowing them to push themselves beyond what they may think they’re capable of.

2024 TEACHING FACULTY // MARTIN JAMES

We are thrilled to announce that the incredible Martin James will be working with our students on a regular basis. We are so excited to have Martin share his extensive expertise with our students!! ✨

Martin James, born in Christchurch, graduate of the NZ School of Dance 1977, and Principal dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet shortly after.

Martin joined the English National Ballet in 1985. He was the company’s principal dancer 1987 - 1990. Principal with the Deutsche Opera Ballet (1990 – 94), Royal Danish Ballet 1994-2000 of which he received a Knighthood of service medal from the Danish Queen Margrethe II for his contribution to ballet and dance in Denmark.

After his retirement became Ballet Master for the Royal Danish Ballet and made the decision later to become a freelance guest teacher/ballet master with major ballet companies and institutions throughout Europe particularly, and has been a regular teacher and coach with the NZ School of Dance, Royal NZ Ballet, Melbourne Academy of Arts since his return.

Martin’s career took him all over the world as a guest artist. During his distinguished career he danced most of the principal roles in the classical and contemporary repertoires as well as having roles created especially for him. He partnered ballerinas including Natalia Makarova, Ekaterina Maximova, Lynn Seymore, Alessandra Ferri and Sylvie Guillem.

Martin’s most recent engagements have included The Australian Ballet, teaching the company and coaching the principals with their production of La Sylphide. He has also been guest teacher/coach at the School of Alberta Ballet, Canada to their full time school September 2014 and each year in Australasia is on their auditions panel.

Martin has been an adjudicator for the Alana Haines Awards 2013 and hosted this same event in 2017 and 2019 in Wellington NZ.

CONGRATULATIONS to all our beautiful senior students on their wonderful performances last Sunday in Sydney. You make us all so proud with your dedication, artistry, technique and teamwork. A big THANK YOU as always to our incredible team of educators and creatives, our families, and all who continue to support us and our dancers. We love nothing more than seeing our students light up when they hit the stage! 🖤🖤🖤
