Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week. From May 27 to June 3, let's come together to honour the rich cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This week is a time for reflection, learning and taking meaningful steps towards reconciliation.
This yearโs theme, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will and must continue.
Each year National Sorry Day takes place on May 26th.
Today is a day where we remember the Aboriginal children who were forcibly removed from their families and the children that never made it home.
We recognise and acknowledge the intergenerational trauma and hurt within Aboriginal people, families and communities.
Today we show enormous gratitude and admiration to the Stolen Generation survivors who are leading change, we recognise their courage, determinations and strength.
