More than 550 tests have been completed so far to ensure the Parramatta Light Rail is safe and reliable before services start.

From thorough safety checks, system and signal testing to emergency drills and simulated exercises, every detail is being carefully tested.

Trams are running every day along the 12-kilometre route, stopping at all 16 stations between Westmead and Carlingford.

We know everyone is excited to hop onboard, but we’re not quite ready to welcome passengers just yet, so please don’t board the trams while testing continues. We thank you for your patience.

Remember to stay alert around the light rail and always stop, listen and look around.

PRIORITISING SAFETY | Delivering a new major infrastructure project requires working closely with key stakeholders, including the NSW Police Force, to ensure customers have a safe trip when light rail services begin.

Recently, Police Transport Command - NSW Police Force dropped by the Parramatta Light Rail Operations Control Centre at Camellia where they received crucial information about the safety and security features of our light rail vehicles.

This is all part of the work we need to do to get light rail ready for passenger services.

NATIONAL TREE DAY | We're planting for the future! 🌳

National Tree Day was celebrated on 28 July, and at Transport for NSW we are always looking for opportunities to contribute to the wellbeing of our environment. As part of the Parramatta Light Rail project, we've planted more than 4,600 trees within and around the light rail corridor, with a big target to reach 5,500 in 2025. Some of these trees include cuttings from fig trees harvested in 2020, which act as canopy and food trees for the endangered Grey-Headed Flying Fox.

Check out our Parramatta Light Rail Tree Offset Strategy (https://www.nsw.gov.au/driving-boating-and-transport/projects/parramatta-light-rail/community/trees) to find out more about the work we've done to both minimise our impact on the environment and improve the quality of life for our future communities.
