Building communities is one thing. Supporting them is another.
Not everyone has the luxury of a safe home, or even the certainty of a hot, healthy meal every day. Thankfully there are people like Mama Lana's Community Foundation (MLCF) to help fill the gaps.
At JWP, we're proud to be a Turn The Tables partner of Mama Lana's, providing ongoing financial assistance to cover the rent and running costs of the MLCF premises.
Want to know more about how MLCF helps those less fortunate than us? Check 'em out on our website https://loom.ly/oRo_Qe0
Corporate Social Responsibility J Wyndham Prince is a proud supporter of Mama Lana’s Community Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping the homeless…
As new estates and communities grow, so too does our need to be connected and to move around. It's imperative that roads infrastructure keeps pace with the growth of housing, and with people's expectations of being able to move quickly, efficiently and safely from one place to another.
We're proud to have played a major role in the upgrade of Bernera Rd. The new upgrade connects Camden Valley Way & Bernera Road linking to the Liverpool-Parramatta Bus-Transit way and Edmonson Park Station.

What a TEAM!
We're so proud of team JWP for their efforts in this year's City2Surf. Not just their results, but the fact they showed up on a weekend to help make a difference in people's lives by fundraising for SANE, supporting people living with complex mental health issues in our community.
Our superstar, Dan finished in 1hr 11min & placed 8332 of 77,671 people 🙂 (show off) with Noah & Jack both finishing in 1hr 30min. Maninder finished in under 2 hours with the rest of the team finishing between 2 hours 30 and 3 hours 30.
Looks like they might have had a bit too much fun and should have run faster 😅
The 19th century gold rush in Kalgoorlie and surrounds is entrenched in the folklore of our nation. It led to massive growth in our population, an increase in multiculturalism and the start of enormous wealth for some people.
Sadly it also led to an explosion in diseases like Typhoid, Scarlet Fever and Pneumonia due to poor sanitation.
That's when civil engineers stepped in to save the day with The Goldfields Water Supply Scheme.
Opening in 1903, this project, stretched 560km from Perth to Kalgoorlie and brought water to these new and expanding towns. It’s the longest water supply pipeline in the world and, in fact, when it was built the amount of steel used in construction was greater than any other steel structure.
Another defining moment in the history of civil engineering in our great nation!

On July 5th we sponsored Hamish in the Hattah Desert Race, and today we're stoked to bring you the results 🏍️
The race included 247 riders in four separate classes.
Qualifying is known as the Prologue, which is a timed race over a 5 km track that sets the riders' starting position in the main race. Racing is full of curveballs and it did not go to plan, with Hamish starting a little bit lower than he had hoped at position 181⏱️
Over the next hour and 45 minutes, Hamish raced against the conditions and other riders and continued to make up places in the race.
After 2 laps of the 22 km track, Hamish was in position 155 and continued to move through the field finishing in position 139 🏁
What a cracking effort to make up a huge 42 places during the race to finish 25th in his class of 47 riders
Top job Hamish, we're proud of you buddy!
Did you miss hearing our very own Michael Johnson on My88 radio last week? Never fear, we captured all the action for you. Hear about the major projects we've been doing over the last 42 years and learn a bit more about what we do here at JWP.
Got a property you're planning to develop? Whether it's a large multi stage development, small scale subdivision or commercial development you'll need a partner who knows the ropes and take you from acquisition to market release.
Our team is qualifies, experienced and well respected by development authorities and servicing agencies alike.

As our populations grows, it's important to have areas of medium and high density housing to prevent urban sprawl from growing too far, and to protect some of our bushland.
The key to success here is to ensure those housing estates have appropriate infrastructure like roads, electricity, sewer and stormwater drainage, but also that they have accessible green and community spaces.
We're proud to have helped create such an estate at Botanica, just 14km from Sydney CBD.
There is a lot of talk about sustainability at the moment, but civil engineering in Australia has been focused on sustainable outcomes for decades.
Described as one of the Civil Engineering Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers, The Snowy was build between 1949 and 1973. It generates on average 4,500 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity each year by capturing melting snow and recycling water between Talbingo Reservoir and Jounama Pondage. Water is then released into the Murray and Murrumbidgee rivers via a series of tunnels.

Thankfully, as a society, we've realised the importance of maintaining good mental health and the impacts poor mental health can have on people's performance at work and more importantly their lives and their families.
At JWP we take our responsibility as custodians of our people's health, physical and mental, seriously. We now have 6 trained and accredited Mental Health First Aid officers across all areas and at all levels of the business reflecting our commitment to this critical area of WHS. A project manager, a business development coordinator, an accounts officer, a senior water resources engineer, an HR officer, and, the Corporate Services manager - 2 men and 4 women.
Mental Health doesn't discriminate based on age, gender, social status or job title so we're covering all the bases!
Thanks to St Johns for their nationally recognised 'Recognise and Respond to Crisis Situations' course, we're now better placed than ever to keep our people safe.

Modern residential developments are so well designed and constructed these days, with consideration given to important issues such as ease of traffic movements, liveability, flood mitigation green space and recreation, but it wasn't always that way.
The Deakin University Website says 'The first Australian Town Panning Conference was held in Adelaide in October 1917. Delegates came from across the country, and internationally, and included professionals in the new field of town planning, politicians from all levels of government, representatives from public works department and individuals with a vested interest in improving their own patch of Australia.
Although this was the first formally convened conference on the subject, the papers presented show evidence that a keen enthusiasm for town planning was alive and well within municipal councils across the country.
This first conference has been described as "...an explosion of excitement and a cross-fertilization of ideas, and it has become a cornerstone of Australian comprehensive town planning thought." (Hutchings, 2007, p.4).'
We love helping create more liveable cities and communities and being at the forefront of progress and development in civil engineering and design.
Yoga, Civil Engineering style. Bet you never thought you'd hear that! It pays to stay flexible on the worksite. Happy World Yoga Day. 🧘♂️
Just one of the fabulous projects we've been fortunate enough to work on. Bingara Gorge is set in a spectacular semi-rural setting with gently rolling hills and green nature corridors.
The masterplan incorporates premium residential, parks and green space, a village heart, and the pulse recreational hub, all wrapped around the 18-hole GRAHAM MARSH designed golf course. Modern residential estates are about so much more than housing, they're about lifestyle and liveability!
Australia is home to fabulous examples of ground breaking civil engineering. Take our very own Sydney Harbour Bridge for example.
Our beloved 'Coathanger' is the tenth-longest spanning-arch bridge in the world and the tallest steel arch bridge, measuring 134 m (440 ft) from top to water level.*
Construction of the bridge took nine years, six million rivets, 52,800 tonnes of steel and 45,000 tons of Moruya granite and required the demolition of 799 homes and a school to make way for the massive pylons***
Built in 1932, it carries road and rail traffic, as well as pedestrians and cyclists, from Sydney’s central business district to the north shore and vice versa.
Chief engineer on the scheme, John Bradfield, got the idea for the structure’s design after a trip to America in 1921 – drawing up outline plans for a crossing based on the Hell Gate Bridge in New York.**
The bridge was eventually opened by New South Wales prime minister Jack Lang on 19 March 1932 after Francis de Groot of right-wing group the New Guard, rode up on a hrorse and slashed the ribbon it in half with a sword.**
crowd of around 1m people turned up for the event.

We've been itching to share this with you all, and we can finally let the cat out of the bag. We have a new GM!
When Matthew White retired a few months ago, we knew we had big shoes to fill. And, well, we filled them!
With over 25 years’ of experience across operations, manufacturing, IT, consulting, project management, change management, sales & marketing, and customer experience, our new GM, Mark MacKenzie, brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. He has worked across a host of industries including engineering, FMCG, financial services, manufacturing, and transport & logistics. During our discussions with Mark, we learned he thrives on developing high-performing teams, building a strong corporate culture and embedding strategic plans. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Business Administration, and, is an accredited Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Outside of work, Mark has a strong association with Surf Lifesaving NSW as a Senior Official, plays golf, and enjoys V8 Supercars and Formula 1. (Must be something to do with those finely engineered machines!)
Join us in welcoming Mark to team JWP.
It's hard to wrap your mind around the sheer scale of this project.
As excitement builds around the opening of Western Sydney International Airport, we're more excited to follow the journey of Peggy and Eileen as they toil away underground boring tunnels for the Western Sydney Airport line of Sydney Metro rail link.
(We secretly love that these fabulous machines have names. What about you?)

We love a bit of history here at JWP.
Did you know the first self-proclaimed civil engineer was John Smeaton* John built the third version of the Eddystone Lighthouse in 1759, a watershed construction because of it's influence on lighthouse design and the use of concrete in construction. The first two versions were built of timber (not by John of course) and, naturally, that didn't end well...
In 1771 Smeaton and some of his colleagues formed the Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers. Though there was evidence of some technical meetings, it was really more of a social society.
Things have certainly changed since then, but we love to look back at where it all began...
*Thank you Wikipedia.
Building roads infrastructure isn't just about getting cars from A to B.
Naturally, roads are there to help people move around efficiently, but there are other factors to consider when we're designing and building these kind of projects.
✅ Guttering and stormwater drainage needs to be designed to quickly and effectively move large volumes of water off the road and safely into the water management system.
✅ Street lighting and traffic control signals have to be designed into the plan so roads work effectively in all weather and traffic conditions.
✅A nd of course we need footpaths for walking the doggo, so the kids can go for a pedal and so there is safe passage for people with mobility issues.
Who knew there was so much involved in building roads! (Us. We knew... 😎)
The countdown has begun, and the team is in training!
We're so proud of our people. 14 of our team will be running in this year's City is Surf on August 11th. Not only are we representing our business, team JWP are also fundraising for SANE.
SANE supports & helps people living with complex mental health issues in our community. SANE's Vision: 'A brighter future for people affected by complex mental health issues by ending mental health inequity and social and economic exclusion.'

As much as we love what we do, there's no question that having offices like these make it just a little sweeter. According to an article in Forbes Magazine citing the Fellowes Workplace Wellness Trend Report, quality workspace design leads to a less stressful and more productive atmosphere.
So not only does it look fab, having modern and well designed offices is actually a win win for everyone!
'But don't you only work with Government departments?
No, we work with the private sector too. It's true, we're fortunate to have excellent relationships with all levels of Government, and we work on some massive public infrastructure projects, but we've got the skills and resources to work with large and small private sector developers too.
In fact it's often the smaller, more innovative, private sector projects where our team really shines.
