Nido Early School Wembley
Long Day Care & Kinder for Children Aged 0 - 6 Years.
Kindergarten programs in Australia are designed to support children's early development and readiness for primary school. At Nido Wembley, our Classroom 4 provides a school readiness Kindergarten program📚
Here are some key points about this program, and kinder programs in general:
1. Age Group:
- Kindergarten in Australia typically caters to children aged 3 to 5 years old, in the year(s) before they start primary school (usually at age 5 or 6 depending on birth dates)
2. Curriculum:
- Australian kindergarten programs, as well as our entire service, follow the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which emphasizes play-based learning, communication, emotional development, and building relationships.
- The EYLF has five key outcomes for children:
1. Children have a strong sense of identity.
2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
3. Children have a strong sense of well-being.
4. Children are confident and involved learners.
5. Children are effective communicators
3. Importance of Play-Based Learning:
- Play is a central component in kindergarten programmes, which helps children to develop cognitive, social, and motor skills through interactive and exploratory activities. Learning through play is tailored to individual children's interests and developmental stages, by working collaboratively with children and families to etablish goals and working toward these
4. Transition to Primary School:
- Our kindergarten program aims to smooth the transition to formal schooling by developing foundational literacy, numeracy, and social skills
Our kindergarten program intends to provide a comprehensive early learning environment, focused on fostering the overall development of children before they start primary school. The emphasis on play-based learning, and the EYLF, ensures that children build a strong foundation for future educational success💭☀️
On Wednesday we celebrated Early Childhood Educators day! 🎉
We thanked our brilliant educators with a wall dedicated to them, with messages from families and children.
Our team were given time off the floor for a well deserved massage from Rejoov Workplace Massage & Wellness, and gifted a new water bottle kindly decorated by our Classroom 2 children. 🎨
There aren’t enough words to describe what an amazing profession ECE’s are, the responsibility they have and the thoughtfulness they give each child, but we thank our educators for the care and dedication they provide the children at Wembley, each and every day💗
This morning we celebrated the dads and father figures in our community; we invited dads and fathers figures, had a beautiful Happy Feet Fitness class with Miss Kaye, activities in the rooms, and then enjoyed a delicious lunch made by our chef Susan.
It was a fantastic morning, and all of the children and family had a wonderful time!
To all of our dads and father figures, we wish you a lovely Fathers Day weekend💗
And a huge thank you to our brilliant team for making this morning happen!
🏆Nido Wembley Olympics🏆
Yesterday our Classroom 3 & 4 children joined forces for our Nido Olympic Games, after some children showing interest in the current Olympics.
We went into different coloured teams and we participated in straw throwing javelin, wet sponge target shootings, bean bag throws and a game of limbo. All of these activities help to develop gross, and fine motor skills as well as help further our language and social development.
All the children were engaged and they all participated, cheering one another on and being great sports players☺️🎉

- Non-verbal Communication: Understanding body language, gestures, and other forms of ntton-verbal communication is also essential during sports activities.
Cognitive Development💭
Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners.
- Problem-solving Skills: Engaging in sports activities often requires children to think strategically, solve problems, and make quick decisions.
- Focus and Concentration: Participating in games helps children improve their ability to focus and concentrate on tasks.
We are very proud to announce that our wonderful team and families raised $348 for Pyjama Day (or in our case, week🤩).
Money raised through this fundraiser will allow The Pyjama Foundation to recruit, screen, train, and match with a child in foster care with a "Pyjama Angel" mentor who will empower them to reach their dreams.
Together they read books, play educational games, do home-work and so much more. Most importantly, Pyjama Angels empower kids with learning, life skills and confidence.
Thank you for supporting this great cause, and thank you all to participating and donating ❤️
For every new child we enrol in July and August, $50 will be donated to the Mamakai Foundation to support children who have experienced domestic violence.
The Mamakai Foundation (mama: woman, kai: warrior) was established to fund charities to extend and deepen their support for children who have been victims of domestic violence.
Join us in making a difference and supporting a brighter future for these children. By enrolling your child with us, you are not only securing quality care but also contributing to a meaningful cause. Reach out or visit our website to enquire or book a tour 🙌
Thank you to Milliyaan Aboriginal Services for coming out for an incursion last Tuesday during NAIDOC week!
It was an amazing experience and the children had a fabulous time 🤩
Our friends in Classroom 3 & 4 making cheese & Vegemite scrolls today! 😋
Following our baking experience last Wednesday, we are now permanently incorporating cooking into our curriculum📓🧑🍳
In the past, cooking is something that we have done sporadically at Wembley, however after considering feedback from our community and seeing the enjoyment of the children last week, we have chosen to make it a weekly experience for all of the rooms.
Classrooms 1 & 2 will be cooking on Tuesdays, and Classrooms 3 & 4 on Wednesdays.
We would like to thank our Chef Susan for assisting us with rolling out this program and her constant efforts in providing delicious foods for our children ❤️
Baking Wednesdays!
Our children had such a fun time yesterday, baking their own gingerbread for afternoon tea.
Cooking is a way to share cultures, explore different textures, develop our fine motor skills, and start discussions about food and how our bodies work!
We are going to incorporate cooking into our curriculum weekly for all classes, following feedback from our community ❤️
Have you spotted our new edible plants in the piazza yet? 🍃🥬
We have added some herb gardens into our piazza, to promote adventurous eating, responsibility and sustainable practices.
We are encouraging children to try these herbs, and also to help look after them by watering them with their leftover water from mealtimes.
🚽Toilet training workshop!
Last night we hosted a workshop for our families, held by Julie at WiringKids.
We had a great turnout (not pictured!) and some of our lovely educators attended as well💞
It was a very insightful workshop, and we all left feeling very inspired to assist our children with their toileting journey 🚽
We hope everyone had a lovely time, and we look forward to hosting more events for our community.
Please RSVP to Hope or Rachael😊 [email protected]
💛Today we participated in Australia's Biggest Morning tea, to raise awareness and funds for those impacted by cancer. 💛
Our lovely chef Susan baked cupcakes for the children to decorate for their own morning tea, and has baked additional cupcakes located at the front desk, for families to take home for a donation.
Together, we can help Cancer Council raise much needed funds that go towards vital cancer research, support services, prevention programs, and advocacy.
You can support the cause by donating below, in the donation box or QR code at the front desk.

Our beautiful morning tea for our wonderful mums & mother figures!
Thank you to our team for hosting this event, and special thanks to our chef Susan & sous chef/lead educator Lucy💖
Have an amazing mothers day to all of those celebrating 💞🌸💞
Today we had a visit from DayCare Dental, where some of our children had scheduled checkups and a clean.
It was a great introduction to the dentist for the children, who became more familiar with the process of dentists and were checked to ensure their baby teeth are growing correctly, and to provide early feedback for families in relation to possible future dental issues.
All of the children left smiling and happy, holding their oral health kits 😁🦷🪥
May this Eid-ul-Fitr bring lots of joy, love and success!
Happy Eid Mubarak to all of our families and educators celebrating today 💫🌟
The Easter bunny is on it’s way to Nido Wembley 🐣🐰
Today our educator Rosanna and ESM Chantal stepped into the Cucina to help with afternoon tea, while our chef participated in a provider wide training module!
We endeavour to have a One Team approach at Nido, and our team regularly help each other out to create the brilliant community we have here at Wembley.
Thank you Rosanna and Chantal! 👩🍳⭐️
Clean Up Australia! This Sunday the 3rd of March is Clean Up Australia Day.
Our Classrooms participated by engaging in discussions regarding the importance of recycling, to help promote a sustainable future. We also cleaned up our environments and car park, with take-home kits provided by the cause, and discussed what is and isn’t recyclable waste.
We encourage all of our Nido Wembley community to continue these discussions at home, and maybe even get involved this weekend by picking up rubbish on our walks to the park, or at the beach.
This cause is a great reminder that small changes by individuals help to make larger, positive impacts on the entire community.
We hope that everyone has a great long weekend ♻️☀️
Nido Recognition Day! An annual day of celebrating our team at Nido 💫
Thank you all for everything that you do 💞
🥞 SHROVE TUESDAY 🥞
Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day in some countries, is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent in the Christian calendar. It's a day of preparation before the fasting period of Lent begins. In many cultures, pancakes are a popular food on Shrove Tuesday, hence the alternative name Pancake Day!
Our Classroom 2 & 3 children helped to make pancakes for their peers afternoon tea, which were served with berry compote and whipped nuttelex. 😋🥞
World Pizza Day! Our children celebrated World Pizza Day on Friday, with our Classroom 3 children creating their own pizzas.
They chose their own toppings, and our chef Susan baked them for their lunch.
Yum! 🍕
