Happy Fatherโs Day to Our Carey Heroes ๐โจ
We are thankful for all the dads, step-dads, adoptive dads, foster dads, granddads, uncles and father figures in the life of Carey.
Whether youโve shared your skills in the classroom, volunteered at Bush School, assisted with excursions, camps, hikes and fundraisers or come along to cheer at sporting events, your presence enriches our school community and means the world to our students.
You are valued and appreciated! Happy Fatherโs Day!๐๐
๐๐ฎ Taco Tuesday โฆon a Thursday! ๐ฎ ๐
As part of their 'Canteen Project' to earn their Hospitality Certificates, our Year 12 Hospitality class has been showcasing their culinary talents by preparing meals for their peers and staff. This delicious endeavour gives our students a taste of every aspect of hospitality, from taking orders to cooking, service, and delivery with a smile! ๐
The class recently crafted some mouth-watering Birra Tacos by slow-cooking tender beef, wrapping it in warm tortillas with melted cheese and topping it with finely diced onions and fresh coriander. Yum!

Big Fun, Small Athletes! ๐
Our Pre-Primaries enjoyed Olympic-themed activities with their Year 12 buddies last week, including cycling, a Modern Pentathlon, Baton Relay, Bean Bag Shot Put, Shooting, and Tennis. ๐ฅ๐ดโโ๏ธ
It was an action-packed afternoon full of fun and laughter. We love our buddies! ๐
Spud-tacular sports at the inaugural Potato Olympics!๐ฅ๐
In the spirit of the Games, our Pre-Primary student โcoachesโ recently cheered on their potato โathletesโ as they competed in a mash of events, including Luge, Running, Gymnastics, weight-lifting and long jump!
There was even an Opening Ceremony, led by The Honourable Carey 'Head Potato' and torchbearer Mr Ingram.
Congratulations to our medal winners and all our brilliant coaches.
Your sportsmanship was truly a-peeling!
Rain or Shine Primary Students Cross Country! ๐ง๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Despite wild weather on July 24, our Primary students showed incredible courage and perseverance at the Cross Country Carnival!
There were plenty of smiles as our students persevered through the rain, braving the elements to run (or walk) their race.
Well done to all of our competitors. We are so proud of you! ๐๐
๐จ But First, Let Me Paint a Selfie! ๐๏ธ
Mr Lloydโs Year 5s have shown off their artistic flair and filled their classroom with vibrant self-portraits. The portraits helped studentsโ understanding of self-expression and identity and were a lot of fun to create!
๐ธ Frog Patrol in Action! ๐ง๏ธ
With the wet season upon us, the Frog Patrol has been eagerly watching for the Forrestdale โarmyโ (a group of frogs)!
Our amphibian protectors have been catching tadpoles from wet areas and relocating them to the many protected ponds around the school.
Well done, Frog Patrol! We are hopping for even more ribbiting updates!
โป๏ธ Year 4s Dig into Composting ๐
Our Year 4s have been investigating what makes our school sustainable.
With Mr Cunningham, they learned how vegetable and fruit scraps are turned into soil for our gardens in Forrestdaleโs composting area.
Even the smallest steps can help reduce landfill and support our environment! ๐
๐๏ธ Karajini Adventures! ๐
Our Year 10 Outdoor Education students enjoyed an adventurous week in Karajini National Park at the end of Term 2!
They bravely traversed Dales, Hancock, and Joffre Gorges, soaking in the stunning scenery and the beauty of creation.
Evenings were spent in โyarning circles,โ reflecting on Psalm 23 and how God leads us by quiet streams like a shepherd.
We are now entering the season of Djilba. ๐
The bright yellow flower of the wattles welcomes the season of Djilba with its cold weather and mild sunny days.
Birds are nesting, and animals begin pairing to prepare for offspring. Ngwir (possums) prepare dens in their home trees and, as the weather warms, weโll need to be mindful of the protective koolbardi (magpies) guarding their nests by swooping uninvited guests.
Watch for the dance of the fearless djidi djidi (w***y wagtail), and for the glorious bursts of colour as the galyang (rigid wattle), kudjong (orange wattle) and balga (grass tree) flower mid-season.
Building a Greener Future ๐ฑ
We love seeing our students' dedication to sustainability in action!
Our Year 10 students have created a gathering space by the pond by clearing weeds and dead plants and replenishing the area with a beautiful selection of native plants.
They hope the space might be used for campfires or prayer circles for years to come!
๐ฅYear 9 Taekwondo Champions! ๐
Our Year 9 students have had the exciting opportunity to participate in a Taekwondo elective this year. Under the expert guidance of Senior Instructor Mischa Laijan from First Taekwondo Cockburn, theyโve made impressive progress, training diligently on Monday mornings.
After months of hard work, they took their first grading exam, overseen by WA Chief Instructor Dane Meade. Weโre proud to announce they achieved their first Tip, marking the initial step on their journey to earning a black belt. Well done, Year 9s!
๐ฑ Permaculture Pioneers! ๐ฟ๐
Congratulations to our Year 11 and 12 students who recently received their Cert I in Permaculture Studies! Having learnt to design and maintain agriculturally productive ecosystems, gaining hands-on experience in sustainable farming, site design, crop planning, and community engagement.
Well done, Year 11s and 12s! Weโre proud of your commitment to being good environmental stewards!
๐Term 3 is on!๐
Good morning and welcome back Forrestdale!
We hope you're all excited for a fantastic Term 3.
๐ธ๐ง๏ธ Recent rains created exciting adventures for the Carey Frog Patrol! ๐ฟโจ
Wearing ponchos and gumboots, the Frog Patrol ventured into the front of the school grounds to the swamp space, where they were thrilled to be greeted by the loud calls of many male frogs.
Did you know that Carey Forrestdale is home to several different species of frogs?
The Frog Patrolโs most common find is the motorbike frog, named for its call that sounds like a distant motorbike changing gears! ๐๏ธ
๐๐ฟ Bush Chapel ๐ฟ๐
In Term 2, we launched the Bush Chapel, a beautiful addition to our Bush School Program! Students spent time reflecting on Psalm 104:24-25 and the wonders of God's presence and creation.
From the sounds of parrots to the scent of gum leaves, our primary students used all their senses to appreciate God's goodness, even expressing their gratitude through prayers written on gum leaves.๐ณโจ
๐งฆ Who says teachers can't have fun?๐บโจ
Towards the end of Term 2, some of our Primary staff rocked a 'fun'-raiser event for Tutu Tuesdays and Funky Sock Fridays!
๐ Excited to welcome J Block! ๐ซโจ
We were thrilled to have the Hon. Mr Matthew Keogh, MP, and Mr Yaz Mubarakai, MLA, join us for the official opening ceremony.
Featuring six classrooms and a breakout room, J Block opened its doors at the start of the school year. โ๏ธ๐
Carey Forrestdale is growing every day!

Adventure Awaits! ๐ฅพ๐ฒ
During Term 2, our Year 7 Outdoor Education students embarked on an exhilarating 9.3km trek along the Bibbulmun Track!
Under Miss Terblancheโs expert guidance, the young adventurers enjoyed the beauty of nature and bonded together as a team as they hiked from Camel Farm to Mundaring Weir. This memorable day on the Track perfectly embodied the Outdoor Education philosophy, โgoing outside to grow inside.โ ๐ฟ๐
We are proud of our students for embracing this adventure with enthusiasm and determination! ๐ช๐
๐จ๐ฟ Diorama Delights! ๐๐ฆ
Our Year 4s created amazing Animal Habitat dioramas in Geography and Biological Science this Term! ๐ธ๐ฌ๐ฆง
Working in small groups, they researched their chosen habitat to ensure the accuracy of their diorama, including animals ๐พ, plants ๐ฟ, and land features found there. At the end of the term, they were thrilled to view an โexhibitionโ of their work in the Hub, celebrating their hard work.
Well done to our creative Year 4s on bringing science and geography to life!
