Quick update on our recently certified student Andrew Sheppard.

With a masters in Zoology and deciding a new career path in 2015, he completed his Cert II Engineering and ASME IX 6G pipe and a few others with us here at XLT Perth. Since completing this he quickly found a passion for the industry and flew to Norway to complete his underwater welding license! Hard work has paid off for him, and we all want to wish him the best in the future! Below are a few short words from the man himself :)

'I had very little engineering and welding experience when I first arrived at XLT, In fact I had never before picked up a welding torch. Within hours I had been familiarized with the workshop and I had started learning the tools. I was also given plenty of theory work to back up the practical knowledge I was taught. The trainers have a very good depth of knowledge and will ensure you learn what you need to know and that you do so safely.

When the time came for me to leave I had picked up several welding codes on several different processes and was also able to mark out and cut oxy-cut steel shapes. I was well on my way to becoming a boilermaker and feel comfortable in any workshop now based on the skills I learned at XLT.'
