Enjoy what you eat! Health is not about a fad or substitution of so called healthier fats and sugars! We see so many people for long term weight management desperate to get away from diets. They don’t work! Using a non diet approach we teach them not to deprive them selves, to have a positive relationship with food and to know ‘I can have it if I want it, do I feel like it and am I enjoying it’?!
Sharing this image of this delicious ice cream that is full of...... 😲‼️SUGAR‼️
And..... 👌 I’m going to eat it & enjoy it.
Earlier this week I posted a cookie recipe and got several comments talking about how they have too much sugar and can the sugar be replaced with XYZ to make it healthier.
🤷♀️ sure, you can do this, but will it be as delicious or as satisfying? At the end of the day, c🍪🍪kies are not a health food & they aren’t something we eat everyday. Additionally, using coconut oil (incidentally not as healthy as the internet would have you believe) or rice malt syrup just puts a “health halo” on it. It doesn’t make it more nutritious or healthier. Nor does it change that fact that it’s not something to eat everyday.
👉Pointing the finger at a single nutrient or food group is really over simplistic and not helpful.
💁♀️In my personal and professional experience, lasting and sustainable improvements in health come from putting the focus on the sorts of healthy foods and behaviours you want to do more of, rather than always trying to "quit" whatever is labeled as toxic this week.
If you want to be healthier, eat more veggies 🍅 eat more fruits 🍌 choose wholegrains 🥙get quality sleep 😴 , drink water 💦 and break a sweat 😓 every so often. ☝️Doing these things has a far bigger and long lasting impact on your health. .
And finally, if you want a cookie, call it a cookie, enjoy a damn cookie. Call it a cookie & move on. 👊It won’t undo the fruit & veggies you eat every other day!
