Toy Coordinator Wanted :D
We would love to welcome someone to our committee to learn the role of Toy Coordinator. Surely the most fun job at the Toy Library!
What does the job entail?
-Committee meetings 4 times a year plus an AGM. Most meetings are online and at a time that suits everyone.
-Check notes from shifts (online) to see if any toys need to be removed from the system, repaired or replaced. Other than getting the toy from the Toy Library this can be done at home/as you pop in to borrow anyway.
-Organise buying of new toys (and sometimes boxes/bags and batteries!) and add them to our system - this can be done from home from your log in.
-Check through occasional donations for items suitable to add, pass along other items.
-Every two years oversee a stocktake (rolling) to make sure all toys have correct labels and are in good condition, meeting Toy Safety Standards.
-Contribute to general committee.
The current Toy Coordinator isn't leaving the committee, so it's a great chance for a steady handover. Other than removal of a broken toy (which anyone can do!) nothing is urgent in this role, so it's a great one for someone with some time, but who can't commit to a set time.
Most of it can be done from home, it's perfect for a currently borrowing member and if you've got very young kids you've got the chance to really help curate a beautiful toy collection for your kids and all of ours!
Why?
-We need committee to run!
-Get first try of the new toys!
-Oversee what toys are added!
-Free membership!

How lucky are we?
Thanks to our very generous friends WLC Medical we have 5 brilliant new toys to add to our collection.
-Ride on digger - suitable for 1.5-4 years approximately - yes it makes sounds too π
-Crazy Cart - suitable for ages 4-8 years approximately - sorry parents, we've checked, it does have size limits π
-New Kinderboard to replace our much loved and worn one, amazing for core strength.
-Wheelbarrow - great for developing upper body strength and welcoming little garden helpers.
-Hape Caterpillar Threading set - the caterpillars are easy to hold for little hands and great for fine motor skills.
We are so grateful to have the support of such a wonderful local business. Resources towards the gross and fine motor skills now will pay off for our community in the future! π
Thank you to Adam and the team!

It's Time to Join the Toy Library! π£
Toy Libraries are magical places nestled in the community where you can borrow toys, just like you borrow books from a library. The benefits are endless:
π° Save Money
ποΈ Reduce Clutter at Home
π Engage your Child in Play
π± Reduce Plastic Waste in Landfill
With more than 50% of toys bought in Australia going to landfill within the first 12 months, it's never been a better time to take steps towards a more circular economy, and borrowing not buying is the answer!
Are you already a member of your local toy library? Please spread the word by sharing this with your friends and family!
What a busy morning! Lovely to see so many toys enjoying their weekend at new homes π
Looking for a lead volunteer for 6/7, second volunteer and lead shifts available from 3/8 too π
The furniture in this sweet doll house was worse for wear. Luckily we had some pieces donated and were able to easily upgrade it! We love giving our toys a fresh start π
We open today at 9.30 π
Please clean your toys before returning them and allow sufficient time for your toys and pieces to be counted in and out as we close at 11.30 π
Happy borrowing!
We are looking for a Lead Volunteer for this Saturday the 22nd or for Saturday the 6th of July. Comment, PM or SMS Anthea if you can help π
