๐ง Despite the stormy weather, 40 joined the Sea Shepherd Perth crew for a community clean-up at Bathers Beach!
In just one hour, the team removed an incredible 235kg of trash! โผ๏ธ Due to the weather conditions, we were unable to sort and count all the debris, but we did manage to separate 513 eligible beverage containers for a deposit scheme. The crew were surprised to discover so much trash and so many drink containers left behind in the bushes and under the old jetty.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us on the day and helped prevent all this trash from entering the ocean. With the winter storms kicking off, all this debris would have been washed into the ocean and posed deadly threats to marine life! ๐ฌ
Thank you for coming and celebrating World Ocean Day with this direct-action clean-up! ๐
Our next Marine Debris event is planned for the 27th of July at Scarborough Beach! See you there! ๐๐
Protecting Paradise - Cocos Trash Bash 23๐ด๐ด
Even though our crew are on the beaches from dawn to dusk removing tonnes of trash, they still have more jobs to do back at base at the end of every day.๐ช
This involves washing bags to reuse for the next day, logging data, loading garbage trucks, organizing a film screening, spending a little downtime in the community having coffee, contributing to art projects, and eating vegan pizza - thanks to the Shire for providing it.๐๐
It's all part of the job of being a crew member on one of Sea Shepherd's remote campaigns.
Join us at a Sea Shepherd beach clean-up around Australia and be part of the movement to restore the shore!

Happy World Ocean Day! ๐ Today, we are celebrating the importance of our oceans and the incredible life they sustain.
Did you know that the ocean produces over half of the worldโs oxygen and absorbs 50 times more carbon dioxide than our atmosphere? Itโs also home to an astonishing 90% of all life on Earth.
Sadly, many marine animals are under threat from human activity, and thatโs why weโre taking action all around the world. ๐
From shutting down illegal fishing to protecting our coastlines from marine plastic pollution, we are united in defending, conserving, and protecting precious marine wildlife. ๐ ๐ข
Letโs continue to make a difference together by protecting our oceans. Find out how you can help via the link in the comments below. โฌ๐
