National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

Paraquad Industries would like to congratulate Cloth Production worker Susan Baker, who recently completed the 12km HBF Run for a Reason.

Susan’s worked in Cloth for over 40 years – since May 1981. Naturally, she enjoys her work, which comprises tasks like cutting rag and answering phones.

Susan says she decided to take part in the HBF Run because she wanted to have a go and help other (the Run is Perth’s biggest annual fitness fundraising challenge and sees participants run, walk, or wheel a 12km course to raise money for charities close to their heart).

Well done, Susan!

Earlier today, Paraquad Industries (the disability employment services arm of Alinea Inc.) hosted a tour group of a dozen or so organised in partnership with the Western Metropolitan Regional Council. The visitors were treated to a walk around the Paraquad facilities at Shenton Park - notably the Containers for Change Return-It operations - led by Paraquad manager Joe and his colleague, Resource Recovery Coordinator Simon. Many thanks to Taryn and Natalie from the WMRC for facilitating the tour.

Note: Paraquad operates a Containers for Change refund point at its Shenton Park location. Members of the public can deposit their recyclable containers at this point in return for cash refunds.

Alinea acknowledges Harmony Day, a celebration that takes place on March 21st each year and which recognises our diversity, bringing together Australians from different backgrounds.

The day was first celebrated in Australia in 1999, but its roots date back centuries. The first settlers to arrive in Australia were the original indigenous Australians, who lived in harmony with the land for centuries.

Australia is one of the world's most successful multicultural countries and at Alinea/Paraquad Industries we have staff from a number of different heritages.

Our Client Services team organised a special lunch to celebrate in which employees at our Shenton Park HQ had the choice of nachos or Katsu chicken and rice.

Before they go out for sale our machines are electronically tested and cleaned and we make sure they are in good working condition with a mini service. You will see a sample of the stitching with each machine we sell.

Alinea (Inc) (of which Paraquad Industries is the disability employment services arm) acknowledges International Women's Day which is taking place today, March 8th, 2024.

International Women's Day is held on this day each year to celebrate all women, in all their diversities.

At Alinea, we have a majority of women employees and in our aged care division the workforce is overwhelmingly women. Our aged care facilities are also run by women.

Some of the residents from Ritcher Lodge, Alinea's retirement village, visited our Book Bazaar in Shenton Park the other day, on the hunt for literary bargains.

Ritcher Lodge is a purpose-built, fully accessible residential aged care facility comprising 45 single rooms with ensuite bathrooms, allowing ageing within a friendly and home-like environment.

The Book Bazaar has one of Perth’s largest stocks of used and preloved books. It also hosts a monthly sale where prices are reduced even further. This month, it's scheduled for Friday March 22nd and Saturday March 23rd - so put it in your diaries now!
