Corney Music
this page is about keeping people informed about upcoming tours and live shows for the musicians that make up the touring roster at Corney Music.
Scott Bassham tours the North West Coast of Western Australia
One of Australia’s wild-hearted solo musicians is making a return to the Ningaloo Coast and the Pilbara over the next few weeks for a series of shows under the stars. Scott Andrew Bassham is no stranger to this part of the world, having toured extensively through the mighty Northwest regularly over the last decade, both as a solo performer, and as half of much of-loved folk/punk and roots duo, Ill Starred Captain.
Though he’s a long-time resident of the beautiful Southwest, Scott has developed a deep attachment to the country and people of the Ningaloo Coast, the Pilbara and the Kimberley regions of WA, over many years of performing his lively, melodic and deeply funky music to audiences from Coral Bay to Kununurra, and all points between.
“Every winter, the nomad in me gets called to hit the road North, and I just feel that pull in my soul. I’ve traveled all around the world, for many years, playing my music, but there’s just something so special about the Northwest Coast of Australia.” says Scott.
A talented multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter, Scott has just released his second solo album, the self produced “Songs Behind the Sea”, and will be performing new songs from the album on this tour. “This album runs the whole gamut of what I do, from tender acoustic ballads, to furious punk rock, I’m really proud of its scope.
'There’s a whole lot of my heart and passion in this new music, which I think people are really picking up on'.
”Scott Bassham” performs live in July at Wooramel River Retreat on Wednesday 3rd, Thursday 4th North West Brewing Co. , Friday 5th Onslow Beach Resort, Saturday 6th Newman Hotel Motel Sunday 7th Capricorn Bar And Grill. Thursday 11th Bullara Station Stay and Sunday 14th Whalebone Brewing Company.
Scott Andrew Bassham will also be sharing the Hootenanny with special guest Jimmy McGrath from Exmouth who will perform live at the following shows in July. Thursday 18th Bullara Station Stay, Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st Whalebone Brewing Company

The veg out part of a year is January as we are right in the midst of it. If you’re not puffed out from breathing and are pre occupied soaking in summer then tonight at Port Lincoln’s Soundcity you can catch Scott Andrew Bassham and Shannon Haapanen solo with songs of old and new.
https://www.instagram.com/blue__wren_music/
Tonight brings out the classical's with violins and maybe a mysterious saxophone for some accompaniment like a 'Tom Waits' or 'Beck' ensemble playing hard on 'Morphine'. Sharks patrol these waters and after you take off your dayglo orange life preservers, groove up for a night out with the live show kicking off at 7:30 pm.
With no 'Tunarama' there's still 'Tunakama', an album by Scott Bassham, where songs from this almost 25 year old gem will feature tonight with tracks from his latest album "Songs From Behind The Sea'. If you ask with gusto he may also do an 'Ill Starred Captain' medley for your evening. This is Scott's Lincoln band where a mountain of catologue has also been recorded over 23 years as a note for the historian society of social media.
Blu Wren is another gem out of Port Lincoln where Shannon Haapanen has written a catalogue of music I call, 'The Nonesuch Collection'. Shannon's music draws from a world wide lens and is also Inspired by the 'None Such" compilation c.d. by Uncut Magazine back in about 05. You can check it out like we did that kept folk dancing into the sunrise with a smile as the day sent you to sleep.
World Music people and without a doubt there's always a good feel in the room at these shows when both songwriters grace the stage. Many people have experienced this for decades and I know first hand from many hours up there with them both among the lights and speakers.
It's a big family time over the holidays and look after each other while sharing the company. Time is limited so if you get out and about for some entertainment here's a link for tonight's show and thank you for supporting Australian Music in your neighborhood.
Travel well folks, get your tickets here and lets not forget those who can't dance with us again just for now.
Tix at the door too.

Scott Bassham and Shannon Haapanen are planning to extend the silly season by a day or so, with a combined show at the legendary Soundcity in Port Lincoln on January 5th 2024. Their stated aim is to “absolutely sing up a storm that will send the year 2023 scurrying under the cupboard of history, with whatever dropped bits of mince pie it could grab on the way!”
Operating under the firm belief that good, loud, live music will help to get us through whatever fresh hell we currently find ourselves in, Scott and Shannon are planning a wide, fun, and eclectic musical mix of passion, wisdom and tipsy stupidity. Involving guitars, harmony, tambourines and fiddles, along with fond acquaintance, great company, evocative surroundings and, of course, lots of Sh*tty Beer!
They are looking forward to being back in the loving embrace of Port Lincoln’s shrine to that high, wild sound, Soundcity! If you’re not there, you’d better have something truly amazing to be doing elsewhere, or you may find yourself with regrets…just sayin’!

Hello music fans of Kalgoorlie & Esperance, Justin from Corney Music here and I hope life is doing well for you. Here's a heads up about some extra live music in town this weekend among the great talent that frequents your region. Both Scotty Bassham Music and Corlson visit from the South West of W.A. with their shows at The Grand Hotel Boulder on both Friday 15th & Saturday 16th September from 8pm.
Although a rock Opera is around town, these two musicians are worth a listen with their vast experience across decades as songwriters and performers. For a coastal Sunday session at the Lucky Bay Brewing in Esperance you can catch Scott Bassham & Corslon on the 17th from 3 pm. Esperance has a great melting pot of songwriters and music fans where these shows are presented in conjunction with KyzaPresents.
If you’re doing a gig crawl this weekend, be sure to be part of these shows for some original music and respected cover songs and a good night out. A solid turn out to live shows is a friendly space bringing more great music acts to town for your entertainment in the future. Local venues, musicians and good punters invest in live music and culture for us all to enjoy.
We appreciate your support, thanks for your time and have a great weekend with your friends and family.

SCOTT BASSHAM & SHANNON HAAPANEN live at Soundcity Scott Bassham has lived music his whole life, and it has been a journey down many roads and musical byways. Hello Folks, its a new year and I hope you're off to a good start with your projects in life. I've been busy laying low over summer sorting the muse and tunes for the direction of 2023. @ Corney Music there's plenty of shows coming up in diverse places, from diverse people to share with diverse folk too. Over the last twenty one years I have been booking original music into the Ayers Rock Resort at Uluru for independent touring acts as well as performing with fellow audio sculptor, http://www.corneymusic.com/scott-bassham.html as http://www.illstarredcaptain.com/
Eight years ago after I approached management, they gave me the opportunity to provide their guests original music for a monthly residency performing to an international audience six nights a week. When Covid hit the Freaky Styli boss man said 'We couldn't have done it during our busiest period ever without the musicians and yourself at Corney Music so thank you”. The resort closed it doors where management kept in contact with me and here we are today for more noise to come yet after past uncertainty.
In 2023 I'd like to share a big thank you to the past and present managers at https://www.ayersrockresort.com.au/ who took a risk with us and the guests on presenting independent original music. It is for their ongoing support and the audiences engagement and appreciation, while my colleagues performed and created new songs. A well deserved tour hiatus from a long hot road of shows in front bars and venues providing new musicianship from the nightly engagement with an ever revolving audience.
This was refreshing and at times challenging for these road hardened musicians who had some of their best merchandising sales here for their studio albums. It provides time for the musician to pause in life given the consistent travel between towns and traditional nations on this continent. The musicians always pay their respects on country to the Yankunytjatjara and Pitjantjatjara people, the traditional landowners of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park who speak their own language called Anangu (pronounced arn-ung-oo) https://parksaustralia.gov.au/uluru/discover/culture/
With many happy fans now spanning earth it speaks for itself and since Covid has eased, we managed to reconvene into 2022 by securing these acts who recently performed live and are now off touring the globe with their music and fans in heart.

Yesterday the stage was exchanged between https://www.facebook.com/NoahyoungAustralia/ & https://www.georgedacheffmusic.com/ from Perth who will take up the vibe batten during February. I received a message from George sharing with me her first sight of Uluru and it was speechless and aghast. If you're about Uluru-Kata Tjuta at the Outback Hotel & Lodge, go say hello at the B.B..Q. Bar where you can grab some tucker and listen to live musicians at about beer O'clock.
Noah Young is now trekking off to South Australia with Zaynab Wilson from Toronto Canada, as they head to W.A. for a run of shows on an independent tour of theirs. 'Thanks for playing groovers, happy jams and safe travels'. All future music acts including https://www.instagram.com/amber_rose_jolly are looking forward to performing soon with further information at http://www.corneymusic.com/live-show-guide.html
I feel this is an important gig for songwriters and Australian/International culture as the audiences share music by writers who live on the road in their Highway Hilton's full time as established and emerging music acts. I'm on the hunt for original songwriters who are keen to do a month residency in either 2023 & 2024 to build on the diversity of musicians before them.
There's many new music collaborations underway and these spots will fill fast. If you can work with others and not for ones self, hold a room full of people onstage with personality and deliver a live performance of good music, then please message me links of your work at [email protected] I look forward to hearing new tunes as l was inspired by the old 90 minute TDK cassette music compilation from friends who shared random unknown tracks for the car tape deck.
I'd like to see how we can curate a cool soundtrack of live music acts and provide opportunity to musicians who wish to remain independent recording artists. Some of the past shows have been from the following acts to name a few and everyone who has performed over the years, we have all helped secure this stage for others into the future.
