National Student Volunteer Week 2024 🤝❤️

This year, we are celebrating the powerful and positive changes students bring to our Salvos Stores communities through volunteering. ✨️
Join us this week to appreciate and amplify the incredible impact of young volunteers.

Assisting in data analysis and eCommerce, one of our amazing Uni placement volunteers, Rachel, says she "Enjoys volunteering because it allows me to apply my skills in a real-world case and I’m learning so much every day. Working on an eCommerce project at Salvos Stores has been especially rewarding as it helps me to understand the need for analytics, identify stakeholder requirements, and strengthen practical technical skills. It’s also a great chance to team up with like-minded people and work together for a positive project outcome".

‘Project Boomerang funding sets Salvos Stores on course for a circular economy’❤️♻️

The Queensland Government is supporting Circular Economy infrastructure by funding Salvos Stores and The Salvation Army to establish a textile recycling plant in Carole Park, QLD. The plant will sort textiles, remove buttons and zippers, and customise end products for recycling.
The plant will be Australia’s first automated textiles sorting and decontamination solution, replicating a plant which is currently in operation in Amsterdam. This initiative aims to reduce textile waste in landfills, promote a circular economy, and raise awareness about clothing waste's environmental impact.

Supported by QUT’s feasibility research, the project involves collaborations with Charitable Recycling Australia and SE Queensland Local Governments, and aims to support sustainable practices in the fashion industry.
Companies such as Kmart Group, Samsara Eco and Full Circle Fibres are also supportive as they look to develop local supply chains and markets for recycled textiles.

In an Australian-first, the Miles Labor Government is supporting Salvos Stores with almost $5 million to help establish a cutting-edge textile recycling facility and it's right here in the Electorate.

It is estimated that more than 300,000 tonnes of clothing is either sent to landfill or exported from Australia every year.

The new plant in Carole Park will be an absolute game changer 👏👏 in supporting textile recovery, reuse and recycling, as well as raising awareness of the environmental impacts of clothing waste & promoting circular economy practices.

Various programs include early intervention programs, youth justice programs, housing programs, sports programs, plus many others.

The Club Card Program is being updated across Salvos Stores to prepare for some future enhancements to your in store shopping experience.
This update involves some significant changes to our systems, which means the Club Card Program will be temporarily paused from 17th June, 2024.

During this pause, you unfortunately won't be able to earn or redeem points in our stores. This pause will also mean that for now, no new members can sign up to the Club Card Program.

Club Card Members are encouraged to continue to earn and redeem their points in store until the temporary pause begins on June 17th, and any remaining points will be available to redeem again when the program returns.

While the Club Card Program is paused, all Club Card Members will be entitled to receive an alternate offer: a 5% discount on eligible purchases in store whenever you shop with us while the program is paused*

A look back at Salvation Army history! ❤️

In the early 1900s, before bikes and cars, Salvos travelled by horseback to live their mission and deliver support to their communities.
They drove a carriage, cart or wagon and rode ba****ck or saddled to get where they needed to go and journey alongside those in need.
