🦽 A client recently told me that your wheelchair is “an expression of who you are.”👩🏽👱🏼‍♂️👵🏼🧕🏼This has made me reflect on the importance of considering beyond the clinical measurements and pressure care. 📏 I now question how will any piece of assistive technology feel to the client. 🧑🏽‍🦽‍➡️🩼How will it enable them to do the things they want to do? Does it suit their style? 🪞Does it elevate their self efficacy? 🔑 Just some thoughts I wanted to share.

My elderly client and I had a lovely time trialling these amazing scooters from Country Care Group “Discoverer” and “Adventurer”. It’s impressive how much mobility scooters have changed over the past 9 years. They are safer, have longer lasting batteries, usb chargers and posturally supportive seats. 🛵

🛋️ We recently had a successful trial of rise and recline chairs at MacknMe in Albion Park NSW. Seating is so important for people with chronic health conditions and disability. Powered mobility scooters 🛵 They are a popular product! Have you considered what type may/may not be suitable for you? Are you aware of the risks? Ensure you check with your gp about your medical fitness and your OT about your functional capacity to use one safely.

Practising theraputty exercises with my client who experienced a Stroke with residual weakness in his right arm. He now has increased hand strength and finger movement. Building up to more functional tasks such as gardening and using a computer 💻! ✋🏽🖖🏽✊🏽

I’m pretty impressed with this Oval 8 finger splint for my client with hyperextension in his proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP). This useful little off the shelf splint is used to stabilise the joint during functional tasks such as cooking or gardening. Supplier: OPC Health 🤚🏽 🙌🏽

🚪 What a lovely little threshold tyrex ramp. My client in her 90s is thrilled that she can easily wheel her seat walker out to her patio and sit in the sun 🌞 Thanks to Nth°Care for the quick supply!
