Stage 3 Netball Gala Day! Thank you to Sydney Catholic Schools for organising another great day for our students. Each team competed in several games against other schools. They had a great time demonstrating sportsmanship throughout the day!

On Monday, year 6 were invited to St Vincent’s College to participate in a Religious Education Trivia Day with some other network schools. It was a great day with about 100 students participating.

Today year 1 students had so much fun visiting the Early Start Discovery Space centre in Wollongong.

The Early Start Discovery Space is a children’s museum that provides interactive experiences, stimulating educational programs and learn-through-play activities.

Students were involved in -
The Bricks and Clicks guided, play-based workshop which includes the following activities:
Concept Exploration: Children developed their problem-solving skills while exploring the concepts of floating and sinking.

Boat Engineering: Children participated in a hands-on activity, working in small collaborative groups to design and create LEGO brick boats.

We are grateful to have spent some time this morning at St Martha's celebrating Father’s Day with a special morning breakfast hosted by our parent committee. 🎉🥐

We honor the amazing fathers and father figures in our lives. The children presented a heartfelt song and participated in a special prayer service to express their love and appreciation. 🎶💖

On Friday, a group of students from Years 3 to 6 visited the Opera House to see Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s premiere performance of Daughter of the Inner Stars. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to see a professional orchestra perform in one of Sydney’s most iconic venues. Daughter of the Inner Stars is an enchanting live orchestral concert, blending the magic of a live narrator and original animations with a unique orchestral score by award-winning composer Nicholas Buc.

Today for Book Week the students participated in St Martha’s Great Book Swap. Students were encouraged to bring a pre-loved book that they have enjoyed and are now ready to share with another student in their grade. We raised $235 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Thank you for your support, as the money raised will help to provide quality literacy resources including books in First Languages to Indigenous communities.

Today the students participated in a Reading is Magic - Read Aloud. Students were given the opportunity to visit another class with other students from different grades, listen to the class teacher read a picture book and then participate in a short activity related to the book. This was a fantastic way to build whole school collaboration across Kindergarten-Year 6.

The staff at St Martha’s have been very busy creating a writing wall for the students to read while on the playground. They were asked to create a poster about the following writing prompt “If I was magically turned into a book character I would be……”. The staff at St Martha’s would love to be many different characters.

Welcome to Book Week 2024. St Martha’s has started the week with our annual book parade. It was amazing to see the students come to school portrayed as their favourite book character. A big thank you to the parents for helping the children create the costumes as well as the teachers for working hard to organise their costumes too!

Although the weather wasn’t ideal, Year 3 had a fabulous day at Symbio Wildlife Park yesterday learning about living things and animal classification. Feeding the goats and kangaroos was definitely the highlight of the day!

Today, our Year 1 students brought Mary MacKillop’s life to life with a beautiful prayer assembly 🙏🏻

They reflected on her inspiring journey and her dedication to education and compassion. It was a wonderful showcase of their hard work and a meaningful way to honor her legacy.

Today we raised money for the Charitable Works Fund and wore green and gold as a celebration of the Olympics.

The Potato Olympics also arrived at St Martha’s today. Our Potato-lympions undertook events like weightlifting, skateboarding, spinning and diving that incorporated maths skills like measuring, timing and capacity.

Monday was St. Martha’s feast day. Today we gathered as a school to celebrate. John Burland visited our school to lead us in a faith celebration through song!
Fr. John led us in a beautiful mass, and the children enjoyed learning more about our beautiful Saint Martha.

Thank you to our students, staff, parents and community for making this a wonderful celebration!

At the end of the mass we were presented with a renewed Archbishop’s Charter Certificate of Recognition in response to our successful school review last year.
