As the Solar my School program comes to an end after 7 very successful years, we'd like to take a moment to recognise the incredible achievements of this program:
☀️ 122 schools have installed solar through the Council-run program since its launch in 2017
☀️ At a collective 5.9 Megawatts of solar capacity, these installations equate to powering 1300 Australian homes
☀️ The installations will contribute to reducing 6,520 tonnes of carbon emissions per year
☀️ 48% of public schools that have installed solar since 2017, thanks to support through this program
☀️ Money saved on electricity bills across the schools will total up to $25 million in the solar panels' lifetimes
We are so proud to have been one of the three Councils involved in establishing this program, alongside Woollahra Council and Randwick City Council 🧡

25 years of caring for iconic Bronte bushland 🌳💚
Earlier this year we celebrated this dedicated group of volunteers, who have spent the last 25 years taking care of Bronte Gully bushland - making them the longest-running volunteer Bushcare group in Waverley!
Thanks to their care, this once degraded, weed-infested bushland area has transformed into a healthy ecosystem, supporting plant diversity as well as mammals, reptiles, birds and insects 🐛

Summer is a busy time in the garden and in life. With holidays, heatwaves and dry weather to contend with, your lush-looking veggie patch can turn into a desiccated disaster zone in the blink of an eye.
Join Grow It Local co-founder Paul West this Saturday afternoon for an online workshop that will equip you with the skills and know-how to keep your garden happy and healthy when the mercury soars and life gets busy.
If you can't tune in live, don't worry — everyone who registers will be sent the 'on-demand' workshop recording afterwards to watch whenever suits you best.
This free, live and exclusive session is part of our ongoing monthly 'learn to grow' workshop series — designed to help educate, inspire and support more Australians to grow, share and eat locally-grown food
