This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the support of the late Gary Barton, a distinguished member of the RFSA State Council and former Division 5 Chair.

✨ Gary Barton's legacy lives on through a generous bequest that has enabled the RFSA to establish the Gary Barton Memorial Youth Scholarship. As an advocate for fellow members and a passionate supporter of youth development throughout the state, Gary's impact continues to shape the RFSA's commitment to its members' well-being.

A truly heartbreaking day today, as we mourn the death of another firefighter fallen while serving the community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with their family, friends, and fellow firefighters.

The RFS has confirmed the death of one of its firefighters during an emergency response in the Moama area.

Late this afternoon the volunteer firefighter was responding to a car fire when it is understood he suffered a medical episode. Fellow RFS firefighters rendered immediate medical assistance until ambulance crews arrived, however despite everyone’s best efforts the gentleman was tragically pronounced dead.

RFS Commissioner Rob Rogers has expressed his profound grief at the loss, acknowledging the impact this tragedy will have on the RFS and the wider community.

“Today, we mourn the devastating loss of another dedicated volunteer who, without hesitation, put himself on the front line to protect others,” said Commissioner Rogers.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and firefighting colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.

“We recognise the significant emotional toll a tragedy such as this has on our tight-knit RFS community and we will support his family and fellow brigade members in every way we can”.

The identity of the RFS firefighter is currently being withheld.

Tragic news.

Our members share in the grief of our colleagues at Fire and Rescue this morning, and send our condolences to the family, friends, and fellow crew of another fallen firefighter.

It is with great sadness we learned of the death of one of our firefighters at a house fire at Grose Vale, north-west of Sydney, this morning.

The firefighter was among the first crews responding to the house, which became engulfed in flames, on Grose Vale Road just before 8am.

Our thoughts are with family, friends and colleagues at this tragic time.
