Did you know?

📊1 in 5 Australians are unable to afford pads or tampons.

💰The average Australian spends $10,000 in their lifetime on period products.

💰💰In remote First Nations communities, these products can cost 100% more due to high transport costs and limited access to retailers selling them.

How can we take action?

Our Story

Guiding is about self-confidence, leadership and teamwork. We empower girls and young women to speak out and take action on the issues they care about locally, nationally and globally.

We provide a unique girls only space and are relevant to today's girls. We promote diversity and equality and are committed to giving girls and young women a voice. As part of a global movement, our committed volunteers make Guiding happen.

Girl Guides Australia is a non profit volunteer led organisation. We have been an integral part of Australian society for more than 100 years and our mission is to enable girls and young women to grow into confident, self respecting members of the community. The values girls gain through Guiding set them up for life.

What we do .... Girl Guides Australia provides a non-competitive all-girl environment where girls and young women are encouraged to try new things. Girls and young women who are Guides experience adventure as they step outside of their comfort zone. We encourage teamwork, help girls to grow in confidence and inspire girls and young as five to speak out and be heard. With the support of our amazing team of volunteers, girls and young women who are Guides grow to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Who can join? Membership is open to all girls and young women from all cultures, faiths and traditions. Girls as young as five can join and we also run a program called Olave for women aged 18 - 30. Adult members are also encouraged to join as volunteers. For information on how to join, go to www.girlguides.org.au and click on the My State tab. Contact your State Guiding office for all membership inquiries and for information on volunteering with us.
