At Digital Storytellers, we know the impact of our business extends far beyond our day to day operations.
That’s why, as a BCorp, to contribute to the ecosystems we thrive in – the storytelling, media, marketing and comms sector, as well as the social enterprise and broader business communities we belong to.
How do we go beyond?
Locally, we host the Impact Story Lab in Sydney, a space at the intersection of creative, entrepreneurial and purpose-driven communities.
We are passionate about the democratisation of power through story and created Stories For Impact, a flagship storytelling capacity building program, to help everyone find, make and share their story.
We also believe that story can be ethical and (re)generative when it is authentic, inclusive, non-manipulative, embraces plurality and consciously navigates the dangers of a single story. And most especially when it helps us shift towards a living systems perspective of being in the world. We advocate for and embed this in our work, creating the Leading Through Story program for leaders to wield the art and science of story in a responsible, regenerative and transformational way.
To make it all accessible, we create and freely share open source tools and resources like the Collective Story Mapping Toolkit, Regenerative Story guide, Story Canvas and more, for all communities to benefit from.
You can find them all in our blogs and resources here:
https://www.digitalstorytellers.com.au/blog/
Last but not least, we lead, support and partner with initiatives like Enterprising Stories, Regen Sydney, B Corp and Conscious Capitalism to help accelerate systemic shifts across business ecosystems for a flourishing world.
OK, that was a mouthful! But as a , we uphold that impact must be built-in, rather than a bolt-on. And we do our best to create good in as may ways as we can.
So this , we encourage all businesses to look at how they can be better for the world in more ways than one, and to see how else they can !
"If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together." - African Proverb
We know impact isn't achieved all on our own. Collaboration is key. And B Corps work together in more ways than one.
In celebration of how together this , we take a moment to shout out fellow The Cause Effect for being a legend and a wonderful collaborator.
Last year, we sat down to look at what might be possible to create greater impact together.
We know Purpose unleashes amazing things for teams and organisations. And so does Story.
But what lies at the intersection Purpose and Story?
That's exactly what we set out to explore. And from that, Love Stories for Business was born.
You can read more about activating purpose through the power of story here:

B Corporation: Australia & New Zealand
It’s March, and it’s !
And we absolutely LOVE this year’s theme – .
Because we – as individuals, businesses and the BCorp movement – do need to go beyond products and services, to co-create the just, equitable and beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
As a BCorp, we’re committed to using our business as a force for good, going above and beyond for our workers, customers, environment, and community. And we’ve got a governance structure that protects our principles.
So, how do we go beyond business as usual? And what does it mean for how we run our business?
Stay tuned this month as we share all the ways our certification is more than just a mark and, we hope, is making a mark on the world.

Of anguish and triumph?
Of survival and courage?
Of freedom and creativity?

Who are the major players?

What about the key messages or learnings you could share?
And how are you planning on sharing them?
We would love to know!
Tell the story of your 2022 in less than five words in the comments…
We’ll go first: still here, telling impact stories.
#2022
One way we measure how well we’re doing as an organisation is by how well YOU are telling that matter.
We know it might seem kind of unorthodox to hitch our wagon to something we can’t entirely control, but we believe in the power of story so much that we are willing to take that exquisite risk.
Because story is more than a tool for .
Story is a way to connect and form identity, meaning and .
And the ability to find, shape and share a cohesive and galvanising is a critically sought after and time-honoured skill, particularly in the current world we live in.
What do you think is story’s greatest application for changing the world?
