We've spent over 5 years perfecting our local manufacturing. Choosing Australian-made sustainable reading glasses means more than just making an eco-friendly choice; it’s about supporting local craftsmanship, reducing your carbon footprint, and empowering our communities.
By opting for reading glasses made in Australia, you’re backing a unique blend of human expertise and robotic precision, resulting in high-quality, stylish frames crafted from 100% recycled plastic bottles. But it’s not just about the product. Our modular design allows for easy customization and repairs, extending the life of your glasses and reducing waste. We also give back to future generations by teaching sustainable and ethical practices at leading Australian institutions, including UTS and UNSW, and being part of Victoria’s official curriculum.
Buying local means investing in quality, ethical standards, and the innovative spirit that defines Australia. Every purchase contributes to a more sustainable and resilient future.

The moon tonight. Took the kids for a night walk upto Palm Beach lighthouse to look at the stars. Met with his amazing telescope! We took this pic from his view finder. Thanks Luke for the experience.
As a kid I’d stare up at the stars and wonder what’s up there.
We make our eyewear frames in Sydney. Yes made in Australia. We often hear other brands saying 'designed in Melbourne or Sydney' but they never tell you where it's made. If you'd like to know more click here. https://www.goodcitizens.com.au/pages/made-in-australia
We won another business sustainability award. thanks for putting on such a great night. We make our glasses in Sydney (not an overseas sweatshop where people and the planet are taken advantage of) so to be acknowledged for the effort and work we put into ensuring things are done right and locally means a lot.
Just sat waiting for a haircut and picked up a local magazine and saw a local cafe owner wearing a pair of Palm Beach 2.0 Bottle Green prescription glasses. It gives us such a buzz to randomly see things like this. It means local people are supporting local businesses which is a great thing for all.
3 years ago I bumped into Matt who was coaching my son's football team. He owned a pair of our glasses so I asked him if they fitted ok. He said they make him so happy, he's got a few different brands that he switches between but his good citizens glasses are the only pair that make him feel good. "They fit well but it's what they do for the planet that makes the difference".
We asked more customers and they also mentioned how they felt!
"Sunglasses with in-built dopamine"
From the vault! After a meeting with the Australian Prime minister and his environment team, we set about together raising awareness of how we can all play our part in recycling.
It was a huge success. Bit weird seeing yourself on big billboards and TV but it was all for a good cause.

We've watched it and you'll have your heart in mouth. Extreme is not the word!
It's World Sunglasses Day on 27 June. Yup, it's a thing! lol. I found a snippet of a video that was recently filmed on stage at a conference on the Gold Coast. It's of my son and I talking about when we first had the idea to set up a very different type of sunglasses company.
It's different because we wanted to solve a problem. But also very different because we manufacture in Sydney using only 100% recycled plastic for our frames. And different because they're repairable in seconds.

If you'd like to book us at your next conference reach out to Saxton Group our agent.
At Good Citizens, we get to meet and hang out with truly remarkable good citizens! This is Tommy. He runs and dedicates his time and energy to conducting amazing workshops that help young people navigate everything life throws at them.
From bullying to becoming a better person, his stories are worth watching on Instagram.
We only made two pairs of fluorescent orange Newports, which we call "happy accidents." Nik has one pair, and now Tommy has the other. It's like being pen pals, but with glasses.
Thank you, good citizen Tommy, for all the good you do in the world.

The world is drowning in plastic trash.
Our journey started over two years ago when we were collecting plastic from our beaches and harbour as a family. We asked ourselves what we could do to untrash the planet.
Over 500 billion single-use bottles are made worldwide every year. Very few get recycled; many go to landfill or the ocean.
What started out as a crazy idea has got us to this point. We acknowledge it’s a complicated problem, with no single solution but here goes.
1 x 600ml single-use soft drink bottle = 1 frame exactly, including the hinge. 100% recycled. 100% recyclable. Made in Australia.
