An organic wine, craft drinks and spirits bar in Marrickville. These drinks are so interesting you will say. In a future already happened. So many organic and natural wines? Heaps of craft beers, a plethora of spirits? Of course we reply. Wine tastings will be held in the back room/garage? Don't you know it we answer, hoping our growing irritation has not become apparent. And there is a small yet

Introducing the new iteration of our curried egg snack; œufs mayonnaise. Soft-yolked eggs nestled in a silky, Vadouvan-spiced mayonnaise, crowned with crispy curry leaves. Break into the tender yolks, mop up with warm bread and let the richly spiced sauce complete every bite.

We love fun fizz. New to our by the glass are two from Victoria. Little Reddie's Pat Nat and Quealy's Splendido. Pat Nat is a disgorged Pet-Nat with barrel and lees ageing giving it a nice toasty quality. On the fruitier side, the Quealy Splendido traditional method Moscato highlights the aromatic quality of this varietal with honeysuckle and ripe peach. Both get a big thumbs up from us. Yum.

A little lemon posset on for afters this weekend. Surely one of the most charming desserts around, this one’s topped with poached quince and is lovely, light and perfectly silky. What whimsy.

Speaking of charm, how’s about those guns in slide 3? Truly impressive.

Patience is key. Jean Francois Ganevat is a producer that we typically like to showcase with a little vintage depth, so as excited as we are to crack into these, we’re going to lie them down for a little while. The 15s and 16s are drinking exceptionally well right now. Come in and treat yourself.

Roast pears with fresh ricotta and whey caramel on for sweets this week. Kind of like a sundae, but fluffier.

Our caramel is whey better than yours.

Golden are the days when blood orange season crosses over with the kind of perfect sunny weather that just makes you want to sit down with a glass of something cold and crisp and a beautiful plate of crudo. Trevally here and a little chilli oil too. Lovely lovely.

21/08/2024

Baby cakes! Blood orange and Campari glazed marmalade puddings on for sweets tonight. A generous scoop of marscapone and some excellent recommendations on what you should drink with this.

17/08/2024

Very excited to be adding some new cuvées to the list from some of our favourite Jura producers.

16/08/2024

Fried quince cake with quatre épices and whipped orange scented ricotta. On until gone.

Light red game strong. Silky, spicy and supple, there are some exceptional Australian examples here alongside some of our fave imports.

Hand rolled cavatelli with duck ragu on for this week’s plat du jour. Slowly braised, with soffrito, green olive and rosemary, it’s the perfect plate of pasta for a rainy night.

$35 with a glass of wine, Tuesday to Thursday this week.

We ❤️ oily fish

Oven roasted sardines on caponata for this week’s plat du jour because the Sicilians know what’s what. Bright punchy flavours and some warm focaccia alongside to mop up all the good bits.

An appreciation post for one of the most delicious tipples around: Armagnac. Best friends with all sorts of things, including Far Breton, which incidentally is our dessert special this weekend. Have them both and have a nice time.

Photos from Where's Nick's post 02/08/2024

Far Breton in the evening light. A flan of sorts where Armagnac soaked prunes are buried in fluffy, creamy custard. Served with whipped cream alongside, and a snifter of Armagnac if you so choose.

Breaking! Where’s Nick is now open for lunch from 12 PM on Saturdays and Sundays! You’ve begged, you’ve pleaded, and you’re clearly over queuing for eggs. So, how about some vermouth for breakfast instead? To celebrate our oh-so-exceptional vermouth selection, we’re rolling out a weekend lunch special from 12 PM to 3 PM. Get a fancy panini on housemade focaccia with a vermouth for just $30. This week’s creation: prosciutto, artichokes, parmesan, and broadleaf rocket on warm focaccia. You’re welcome!

A fancy little galette on for this week’s plat du jour. Thinly sliced jerusalem artichokes and potatoes baked until crispy on top, butter and herbs of course, some tarragon rich bernaise sauce and a frisée salad to accompany. Civilised stuff.

Tuesday to Thursday - $35 with a glass of wine

Great wine, great company. A lovely start to the week.

Moussaka! A plat du jour to celebrate our place here in Little Greece. Layers of eggplant and rich beef ragu topped with creamy béchamel and golden breadcrumbs. A little green salad alongside. Very yum. Just like your yia-yia used to make.

$35 with a glass of wine Tuesday to Thursday this week.

A couple of very special bottles open this evening to pour by the glass, because it’s July and we all deserve a treat. Very delicious, quite rare, here until gone.

16/07/2024

Fish pie on for this weeks plat du jour! Monkfish and trout bathed in a silky fennel laced sauce, buried under a golden potato crust. A little frisée salad alongside for balance.

$35 with a glass of wine Tuesday to Thursday this week.

Beautiful pan fried leatherjacket on this evening, with peppery broadleaf rocket (strong contender for best leaf ever) and sauce gribiche.

Excellent fish. Nice and simple. Come and eat.

If you’re taking the month off the booze for Dry July, here’s the perfect excuse to join us for dinner and make a difference.

09/07/2024

Parisian Gnocci on for this week’s plat du jour. Fluffy little pillows of goodness bathed in a four cheese sauce finished with plenty of fresh chives. A beautifully decadent dish, and one that accompanies French wine just as well as it does Italian, which is a rare thing indeed and quite liberating you’ll all agree.

$35 with a glass of wine, Tuesday to Thursday this week.

New to our Rare and Special wines by the glass are two standouts from Victoria. Josh Cooper's Cabernet Blend from the Pyrenees and Entropy Wines Savagnin from Gippsland. Both producers focus on minimal intervention wine making to show off the quality of their fruit and the terroir of their respective regions. Kept under coravin so they're always tasting their best.

02/07/2024

This weeks plat de jour is Paul's iteration of a popular winter dish; Jervis bay mussels cooked in vermouth butter on thick cut focaccia toast dressed with aoili and a delicate parlsey oil. Yum.

35$ with a glass of wine Tuesday to Thursday.

A few delicious drops opened of late

25/06/2024

Ribollita on for this week’s plat du jour. Mid way between a soup and a stew, and a level up from minestrone, this hearty Tuscan dish celebrates one of our favourite winter heroes: cavolo nero. Finished with lots of good peppery olive oil and Parmesan too, you can pretend you’re on vacation somewhere near the Florentine hills. Dinner for one, because it’s far too delicious to share and sharing a soup is a pretty weird thing to do anyway.

$35 with a glass of wine Tuesday to Thursday this week

🥬

18/06/2024

Osso Buco up for this week’s plat du jour. Italian for ‘bone with a hole’ this classic Milanese dish of slow braised veal features rich, velvety marrow as its centrepiece. Scoop it out and enjoy over creamy polenta and zesty, salty gremolata.

$35 with a glass of wine, Tuesday to Thursday.
