Sometimes the news you need is that the sun is shining, and there’s still great little places in pockets of Manly worth giving some love to like Sydney Road Deli- who will fill up a large bowl of fruit salad for $6.50 or scramble eggs with tomato and toast for about ten bucks.
Oh and there’s a bunch of bull sharks spotted along the beaches today. That’s probably only relevant news if you’re a seal, or don’t like your chances of being mistaken for one. 🦈 🦭

I grew up in the Philippines and came to Australia after working all over the world as a sailor on cargo ships. I came here because my girlfriend had moved here – now she’s my wife.
I started working at the deli nearly 25 years ago, when my eldest son was only 2 months old. I had a full time day job as an optical mechanic and worked nights as a kitchen-hand. One day, the chef decided to quit, so I took over, then I bought the business. That was 7 years ago. I work 6 days a week, except for Sundays, when I spend time with my son, who is battling a difficult illness in hospital.
I love this job. I love serving people. I love the customers who live and work in Manly. Just last week we catered an engagement party for one of my regulars. Its rewarding to be part of the milestones in people's lives.
