2024! This marks a fresh start for most of us.

For some, it means setting new goals and more often than not, the health & wellness goals we set are sometimes restrictive and unsustainable which means we more than likely will break them!

Here are a few New Year's resolutions you might actually be able to keep this year 🤩

1. Sounds easy right? Eat whole foods = real food (not processed) such as vegetables, fruits, eggs, meat, whole grains, etc.
Hard part is, it's so easy to get takeaway, pre-packaged and pre-cooked foods that have a bunch of chemicals, sugars and crap in them! But, it can be done - keep it simple and you can create fresh, tasty meals. Check out all the different health groups on social media for recipes.

2. Sit less & move more = get off your butt if you work at a desk and take a walk around the office. Take the dogs for that walk, even if it's only 3 blocks!

3. Put your device down; take part in conversations and really listen; notice the environment around you - you'll be amazed at what you hear and see.

4. Get some sleep!! Lack of sleep increases your chance of weigh gain, heart disease and depression. So limit screen time before bed; listen to a meditation podcast, and go to bed earlier.

5. Find a sport or exercise you actually want to do 😀 you have more chances of sticking with it if you do. (Join me at St Joey's school twice a week! 😉)

6. You are not being selfish by taking time for yourself! It's the best investment for you and all the favourite people in your life.

7. You know those studies that 'they' do? Well, they reckon that if you ate 5 or more home-cooked meals/week, you will be 28% less likely to be overweight compared to those who don't - FACT.

8. Crazy thought - too much screen time is linked to depression, anxiety and loneliness in some studies.... think about that.

9. Anyone, yes anyone can do yoga and/or meditation. Too many benefits to list! If you were to just sit by yourself in a room and listen to your own breath for 5 minutes, you've just meditated.

10. Confession - I have been a highly functioning alcoholic in the past, and it has stopped me from achieving some of my fitness goals. Excessive and constant consumption of alcohol is just bad for your body, full stop.
If you can't or don't want to stop, maybe think about cutting back and set a drink limit for the week or weekend. Maybe then you can start to replace one of those with a non-alcoholic bevie?

Even if you can only achieve half of these, how good would that feel? 💚

I have been a bit quiet of the past 2 weeks while I have been focusing on the Ginetta Junior Scholarship held at Blyton Park in the UK over the weekend.
What an amazing experience it has been. The weekend started with 60+ kids aged between 13 and 16.
Over 3 days the groups got smaller and smaller until a winner was picked.
I managed to set the fastest times on multiple occasions impressing the instructions and also came out on top in the majority of my fitness tests.
Mixed emotions though..As one of the youngest there, I'm absolutely thrilled I made it to the final 6 kids, but also shattered that is where it ended.
It has given me great confidence though for the season next year!! This is just the start, bring on 2024!! 😁
