A stroke can happen when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted, depriving the brain from the nutrients it needs. Strokes can cause muscle weakness, problems with speaking, memory, hearing and vision. The severity of the stroke depends on the part of the brain affected and how long the stroke lasts.
Physiotherapists play an important part in the lengthy recovery after a stroke. They can assess how you move, sit, stand and walk, and work together with you and other health professionals to reach your goals.
If you know anyone who has suffered a stroke and could benefit from physiotherapy, please reach out to us for information on how we can help.
Did you know that falls are the leading cause of injury resulting in hospitalisation and death in Australia. In fact, falls can be attributed to 43% of injury hospitalisations and 42% of injury deaths (AIHW - 2024). Falls most frequently occur in adults with increasing age, and most occur at home.
Physiotherapy works to reduce the risk of falls by improving balance and coordination, increasing strength, and improving flexibility.
If you or your loved ones want to stay active, safe, and confident, consider making an appointment with Lachlan at Mobility Physiotherapy. Take a step in the right direction to prevent falls today!
Lots of us have suffered from this one!
Sciatica is a shooting pain that spreads from the lower back or buttock through one or both legs, along the course of the sciatic nerve. It is usually caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve or its roots in the spine. Fortunately, most cases of sciatica are not severe and improve with time. However, if you experience issues, it's important to see your physio or doctor.

Dry needling may help alleviate pain and muscle tension, as well as improve range of motion and overall function. It is often used in conjunction with other therapies, such as manual therapy and exercise, to provide a comprehensive approach to pain management and rehabilitation. If you are experiencing muscle pain or tension, dry needling may be a helpful treatment option to consider. Lachlan can provide more information and guidance on whether dry needling is right for you and your specific needs.
Manual therapy is used by physiotherapists to assist with treating musculoskeletal problems. It involves hands-on mobilisation of joints and soft tissues to relieve pain and improve mobility. Lachlan's experience in manual therapy allows him to provide a specialised treatment plan for each patient, unique to their needs and condition. By incorporating manual therapy into his physiotherapy approach, Lachlan is able to achieve faster and more effective results, helping his patients to return to their regular daily activities.

P.S. You don't need a referral to see a physiotherapist for a private session. However, if you have a chronic condition and you want to have Medicare take on some of the cost of physio, you WILL need a GP referral/arrangement for that.
