Australian Concerto & Vocal Competition
The internationally recognised ACVC is held annually in Townsville over five days during July.
The ACVC is a voluntary, non profit incorporated organization and as such is registered for a tax deductible recipient under the Register of Cultural Organization, subdivision 30-B of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.

Congratulations to our ACVC 2024 Open Instrumental winners: 1st - Hannah KIm - Violin (Sydney); 2nd - Maryann Gou - Piano (Sydney); 3rd - Patrick Phillips - Cello (Brisbane). All three competitors delivered exceptional performances for the finals and provided outstanding entertainment for the audience. The future of music looks bright with our new up and coming talent.
ACVC thanks the Barrier Reef Orchestra (BRO) for their continued support with the Open Instrumental winner's prize.

There was a great display of talent in this afternoon's competition in Section 7 - Ensembles for School Students. In the end, the adjudicator Gil Sullivan announced the following places: 1st - Townsville Grammar Cadenza Chorale; 2nd - Pimlico State High School Blue Brass; 3rd - Middle String Quartet (The Cathedral School); 4th - Townsville Grammar School Recorder Ensemble. Our thanks to the Townsville Grammar School along with Louise and Ed Burke for sponsoring the prizes for this section.

Our instrumental adjudicator, Gil Sullivan, has selected the following competitors to compete in the Instrumental Gala Concert to be held on Sunday evening commencing at 7.00 pm: Hannah Kim, Sydney; Patricks Phillips, Brisbane and Maryann Gou, Sydney. Note: Ian Tuck - Piano (Brisbane) has had to withdraw from Section 5 - Young Instrumental on Sunday. Jiyou Park - Cello (Brisbane) has also had to withdraw from the the same section.
Congratulations to our Vocal Finalists who provided a great Gala Concert for a very appreciative audience last night. But, it was still a competition so the placings were: 1st - Annika Hinrichs; 2nd - Naomi Yu; 3rd - Jacalyn Adcock. We are grateful to Ines Tapiolas Nominees Pty Ltd for sponsoring the prizes for this section. Also presented last night was the prize for the Most Promising Vocalist sponsored by Siobhan Patrick. The winner was Calista Walters from Toowoomba. Congratulations Calista!

Vocal adjudicator, Dr Simon Lobelson, has selected the following three competitors as the finalists of the ACVC 2024 Open Vocal: Naomi Yu (Brisbane), Jacalyn Adcock (Townsville) and Annika Hinrichs (Brisbane).

However, we are now very pleased to welcome, from Melbourne, Allie Xinyu Wang. Allie is excited to be joining us this year and we look forward to her contribution to the competition. St James' Saturday Concerts series welcome the Lettuce Dance Band - one of our regularly performing ensembles.
Their engaging program of Eastern European Folk Music, Klezmer, and Gypsy melodies is a favourite for many in the audience.
