Want to master your meal planning?
Be the food saving champion of your household by planning and prepping for the week ahead. We have a blog dedicated to this (link in bio for all our best advice) but if you are looking for some quick takeaways, why not try;
- Checking your kitchen cupboards (yes even that corner one, and make sure you go all the way to the back) and make a note of what you already have. This will help you write a more effective shopping list and only buy what you need.
- Checking who, and how many people you are cooking for. What are they most likely to eat? How much do you need for each person? Buying your produce loose is a great way to ensure you get the right amount of food for each person. Jacket potatoes for the family on the menu? You can buy loose and get the exact number and size of potatoes that your family needs.
- Factoring in your routine/calendar when choosing your meals for the week - you may have busier days where you'll need something simpler to whip up.
- Writing down a shopping list in a way that works for you. Maybe you like to use your notes app, perhaps you find it easier to send a message to yourself, or maybe you prefer traditional pen and paper. Take your list with you and check things off as you go!

Each year Australia throws enough edible food to fill Queensland Country Bank Stadium more than 12 times despite the many ways it could be used.
Here are some ideas you can try to reduce your food waste:
๐ฅ Leafy greens looking a bit wilted? Revive them by soaking them in a bowl of cold water.
๐ Bananas overripe? Make them into banana bread!
๐ฅฌ Freeze stalks and leaves to make into a healthy veggie stock.
๐ Excess stone fruit? Add slices to muesli or freeze for smoothies.
