Gear check rule changes for EA Dressage Events.

ATTENTION All Riders
The EA Rule 4.4 states that
"a) a gear check is compulsory for each test and failure to have a gear check will entail elimination
b) An Accredited Steward (or approved representative of the Steward) must be appointed to check the saddlery
of each horse immediately after it leaves the arena.
Any discrepancy will be reported to the Judge at C.
The checking of the bridle must be done with the greatest caution, as some horses are very sensitive about their
mouth"
It is your responsibility to know the rules and to adhere to the rules.

🐴 We are a friendly committee who would love new volunteers to join and help out at our competitions. Many hands make light work. ❤️🫶

📢📢 Update regarding our 3rd March competition:

There is a local air show on 3rd March which we believe will impact on the safety of both horses and riders for our competition.

After careful consideration, the SCEC committee believes that the best thing is to cancel the 3rd March competition and have 21st April as our first competition for 2024. 🏆

We have checked for alternative dates in March, but they clash with other competitions.

Apologies, but safety for all is paramount. 🐴

We thank everyone for their patience and support 🙏.

This applies to official dressage competitions and has been introduced for the following reasons:
1. To enable a check for blood after a test is completed
2. To ensure that a rider is not interrupted immediately before their test to do a bit check prior to a horse competing (which is not safe or fair)
3. To prevent horses from becoming agitated whilst waiting at the Gear Check prior to their test, when they are warmed up and ready to go.

Dressage Competitors be aware that you will need to ensure that your gear is correct when commencing your test as incorrect gear could result in elimination after you have finished your test.
