Well done to Liam Gammone who has has been representing NSW 2 at the School Sport Australia cricket championship up in Mackay for the last week. Liam posted some great bowling and batting figures across the competition 🏏

Cricket Illawarra will be holding their annual Come Try Cricket Day next Thursday at North Dalton Park.
For those up to Under 11's, it's way for all clubs in the association to participate and benefit from the event.

We have some sad news that former Butcher Greg Martin has recently passed away.

Greg won the following trophies while playing with our club...

Our condolences to his friends and family.

Ryan Park MP has recently informed NSW parliament that the Butchers are Cricket Australia's community club of the year.

Thanks for this wonderful recognition, and for sending us a certificate commemorating this historic event that will be proudly displayed in our clubhouse.

Nets Update!

The public lanes still have some dampening panels to be installed so are not yet ready for safe use. We have come to an agreement with Council for them to manage the remaining demolition of the old nets and move the soil stockpile to fill the voids left by footing and slab removal however we don’t know when this will occur.

With registrations closing at the end of August, trials will be held shortly after and we are aware many would like to get in some practice in readiness. For this reason we have decided to open the club lanes for free use this Saturday 10/8 from 1-4pm and Sunday 12:30 -3:30pm. If you are planning to make use of this opportunity, please respect the facility and leave it as you found it, including no mud or dirt to be carried in, or future opportunities will be taken away. We also ask that all lanes be shared equally with no 1 lane taken up by a single pair if demand calls for it and kit bags are to be left outside.

The Butchers were well represented today at one of the Cricket NSW regional cricket days supported by the Cricket NSW Foundation. A great opportunity for kids to work on foundational skills and get excited for the season ahead. All of these Butchers (plus 2 more amazing girls not in this photo) will be participating in either NDCC’s Blasters program, or the Juniors or Girls Competitions.

Another win for Australia's best community cricket club the Butchers New cricket nets on the way for the Northern Districts Butchers

In a big week for the club, work has also commenced on the new nets at Hollymount. Thanks to Alison Byrnes MP, Ryan Park MP, Cricket NSW and City of Wollongong for their support, and to the club volunteers who have been working hard on this project for a long time.

CONGRATULATIONS to Liam Gammone recently selected in the NSW Combined High Schools Cricket Team made up of the best U15’s from Independent, Catholic and State schools. The team will travel to Mackay, QLD in September to take on all other States over a week of cricket. Good luck Liam!
